Australian/New Zealand Report – September Issue 2012
Greetings in the Name of Jesus,
Thus far, 2012 has been an extremely busy year. There have
been highs and lows, but throughout the hectic schedule
our gracious Lord has seen us through.
At the risk of repeating myself, I am totally “blown away” by
the way the Lord has all in place— not so much of the “big” things
but the “awesomeness” of Him as He clears the way for the “little”
things—things that in the whole scheme of things seem somewhat
mundane but go to make up the incredible tapestry that is
our “Walk” with Him.
Since Nigel (Moriel NZ) went to be with the Lord earlier this
year I have been going to and fro across the “Ditch” to what has
almost become my second home. (For our overseas readers, the
“Ditch” is actually the Tasman Sea, which separates the Australian
East Coast and New Zealand.) Through the generosity of Nigel’s
daughters we have been able to continue operating out of their
dad’s home, but it was time to wind it all up and put it into storage
until the new administrators, Mike and Diane Keaney, take over
sometime in November. In the meantime the Quarterly and all the
resource orders will be serviced by Australia.
It was awfully sad to see the final box packed onto the removal
truck. Actually there were quite a few tears shed by the girls and
yours truly. A very dear brother, Lothar, has made a room available
in his home in Hastings to store everything.
The December issue of the Quarterly (actually out in about
mid-November) will have all the Moriel NZ details, i.e., phone
number, email address, etc. There will also be a new catalog for
our Kiwi readers, which they have never had in its entirety before.
Please uphold the plans for Moriel NZ, that all our endeavors with
reflect the glory of the Lord.
Jacob’s 2012 “Downunder Tour”
What a wonderful six weeks. Jacob, although extremely fatigued,
was “on fire,” preaching many new topics. These
new titles will be available in DVD, CD and MP-3 format and are
all listed in this newsletter. Each of the Australian meetings had
wonderful attendances
As always, when the Moriel people get together, boy what a
family reunion! There are so many things to catch up on, news to
be shared, tears to be shed. As I said to the people at the Napier
meeting, I knew it was a Moriel function as they were so very
noisy. Bless them.
I joined Jacob in Tauranga and I was met by the loveliest couple
(Peter and Loretta) that chauffeured me around. Thank you
so much my dears. As we were driving along – coming on dusk
I thought I saw a sign on the roadside with “Jacob Prasch” on it,
and then a little bit
further on I did
see one. Mike had
wonderfully clear
roadside signs
made and erected
in prominent
places on the main
roads. Included is
a photo of JP helping
to dismantle them the next morning. – Very impressive.
The Tauranga meeting was really great and I was able to meet
people who up until then had been a voice at the end of the phone.
The greatest surprise was seeing Nigel’s sister Barb and her husband
Wally – again lots of hugs and tears.
The next day we had a small intimate meeting in one of the
ladies homes, and Barb again was there. It was really special to sit
quietly with Jacob and share the Word.
Jacob seeks to debate Stephen Tollestrup in NZ
Moriel (on behalf of Jacob) placed an advertisement in the NZ
Challenge Weekly. (The complete advertisement is available on
the Moriel website, http://www.moriel.org). The essence of the
challenge was as follows:
Moriel Ministries NZ extends an invitation to STEPHEN
TOLLESTRUP, TEAR Fund NZ to debate with J.J. Prasch Moriel
Ministries the views he has expressed in his recent interview with
Dr Stephen Sizer.
After running the ad in the Challenge Weekly we had numerous
calls of support with callers asking that they be advised if and
when the debate was to be organized. A number of people contacted
Mr. Tollestrup’s office only to be told he was not available
and knew nothing of the challenge. We waited several weeks for
Mr. Tollestrup to contact us but we heard nothing. In mid-July (as
Jacob was to fly to NZ) I received a letter from Advertising Standards
Authority advising us that a complaint had been made by S.
Tollestrup re the said advertisement.
Complainant, S. Tollestrup said: “The advertisement in question
appears intended to bring ridicule and hostility towards me….
It calls into question my faith and fitness to be a Christian leader
and implies I am a Holocaust denier, anti-Semite, that I consort
with criminals and terrorist sympathizers. Obviously I reject these
claims entirely.”
The Chairman’s Ruling: The Chairman ruled that there were no
grounds for the complaint to proceed.
