Foremost® Foliage DIOON ‘edule’ Resistant to Aulacaspis scale! DIOON EDULE IS CONSIDERED EASY TO GROW AND A GOOD CHOICE FOR LOW-MAINTENANCE LANDSCAPES. Landscape Usage: A single large specimen makes an excellent feature plant in a landscape that emulates a tropical or desert setting. Use Dioon to substitute for a true palm where a large crown is desired, but without a tall trunk. Dioon edule can be a spectacular accent in a small garden where space is limited. The Dioon edule also makes an impressive understory to a larger tree or structure that allows at least partial sunlight to filter through. GROWING PREFERENCES Light: The D. edule grows best in partial shade. Note: This cycad can handle full sun with little issue! Moisture: Ideal condition is moist soil with good drainage for optimal growth. Note: An established D. edule is considered drought resistant. Hardiness: The D. edule thrives in USDA Zones 8-11. Note: Mature specimens have been reported to tolerate temperatures as low as 9 degrees Fahrenheit for up to four days!
