Put five gems (or money instead)<br />
Then chant following and introduce five gems (or money in its absence) in the water in the<br />
kalash:<br />
Kanakam kulisham nilam<br />
Etaani panch ratnaani<br />
AUM VAM VARUNAAYA NAMAHA<br />
padma raagam cha mauktikam<br />
kalashe prakshi paamyaham<br />
PANCHA RATNA SAMARPAYAAMI<br />
Place coconut – <strong>sri</strong>fal on top of kalash<br />
Pidhaanam sarva vastunaaam sarva kaarya artha saadhanam<br />
Sampoorna kalasho yen paatre tat kalashopari<br />
AUM VAM VARUNAAYA NAMAHA SRIFALAM SAMARPAYAAMI<br />
Shower rice on kalash:<br />
Then chant the following mantra and shower rice from the hands on the kalash:<br />
Namo namaste sphatik prabhavaaya su shwet haaraaya su mangalaaya<br />
Supaash hastaaya upaasannaaya jalaadhi naathaaya namo namaste<br />
Aum vam varunaaya namaha sarva bhaave akshtaan samarpayaami<br />
Then chant the following mantras and offer the de<strong>no</strong>ted to Varun deva (deity of the water) :<br />
AUM VAM VARUNAAYA NAMAHA DHUPAM SAMARPAYAAMI (scented smoke)<br />
AUM VAM VARUNAAYA NAMAHA<br />
made from cow butter/ghee)<br />
DEEPAM SAMARPAYAAMI ( show lighted candle<br />
AUM VAM VARUNAAYA NAMAHA NAIVEDYAM SAMARPAYAAMI (food)<br />
AUM VAM VARUNAAYA NAMAHA FALAM SAMARPAYAAMI (fruits)<br />
AUM VAM VARUNAAYA NAMAHA MUKHVAASAM SAMARPAYAAMI (after food<br />
mouth refreshners)<br />
AUM VAM VARUNAAYA NAMAHA TAAMBULAM SAMARPAYAAMI (beetle leaf<br />
with condiments)<br />
Then hold water in the right hand, chant the following mantra and put the water on the ground :<br />
ANAYAA PUJYAA SAANGAHA SAPARIVAARE<br />
VARUN DEVAHA PRIYATAAM<br />
During the pujaa, wife of the yajamaan may touch husband's body i.e. wife and husband are<br />
spritually the same entity, there<strong>for</strong>e action of one of them counts <strong>for</strong> both.<br />
Then stand on the knees holding the kalasha in the hands and chant the following<br />
looking at the priest:
