18th MUNS inventory
The 18th Munitions Squadron storage area will conduct a 100-percent munitions inventory until March 29.

Mailing and receiving paintball or air soft guns
Japanese customs restrict certain calibers of paintball and air soft guns. These guns are restricted to less than 3.5
J/cm2 strength. Any gun with a higher strength will be confiscated. Please ensure specifications are checked prior to
ordering and mailing the guns.

Troy University military personnel scholarships
Troy University has three new undergraduate scholarships designed to lessen the impact of nationwide cuts to the
military tuition assistance programs.
The three scholarships will discount undergraduate per-credit hour tuition to $250 for active-duty, Reserve and
National Guard students who would otherwise be eligible for military tuition assistance.
The scholarships are available to both full- and part-time undergraduate students through the final term of the 2013-
2014 academic year, and apply to both in-classroom and online courses.

2013 Air Force Marathon PACAF Team nominations
The Pacific Air Forces’ services will sponsor two female and two male runners to represent PACAF at the 2013 Air
Force Marathon Sept. 21 at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.
Interested individuals should submit an Air Force Form 303 (request for United States Air Force specialized sports
training) to installation fitness center director, Reeta Meana at narita.meana.5@us.af.mil no later than April 17.
The AF Form 303 must be signed by the applicant’s supervisor and unit commander and is considered permissive
TDY.

Chibana yard sale donations
The sexual assault response coordinator office is looking for donations for the Chibana yard sale. Items being sought
out are baby/adult clothes and small kitchen appliances. The money raised will go towards the Japan Rape Crisis
Center. Please drop off your donations at the SARC office, Bldg. 428 by April 1.

Schilling Community Center’s shorter hours
In support of the Spring Eggsplosion, the Schilling Community Center is scheduled to be open from noon to 9 p.m.

Civil Air Patrol
The McDaniel Training Center, Bldg. 3445, hosts an aviation demonstration, The Civil Air Patrol, from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
every Thursday. This event is open to all Status of forces agreement members, cadets ages 12-19 and senior
members 19 or older. This is a great opportunity to get involved in the community and learn about aviation.

Legal office extended hours
The legal office has extended hours every second and fourth Wednesday of the month from 4:30-7 p.m. for notaries
and powers of attorney. For faster service or to assure you have all the information required for a power of attorney,

Kadena Tax Center is open
The Kadena Tax Center, Bldg. 1460, is open Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for walk-in services and
Saturday is by appointment only, for commanders, taxpayers with rental properties, home child care businesses and
Department of Defense Dependents School personnel. The tax center also offers a drop-off service. Bring tax
documents, bank info and any other forms needed to prepare the return and they will call when the return is ready for
pick up.

HVAC maintenance
Okinawa is on the brink of cooling season and the 18th Civil Engineer Squadron wants to let everyone know that to
keep their air conditioner working efficiently, remember to clean the filters if there is a small air conditioner in the work
space. If there is a central cooling type of system, clean the vents a minimum of once a month. 18th CES personnel
will handle the big maintenance of the systems and it is the occupants or building managers’ responsibility to clean
the dirt off of their own vents.

Holocaust observance
Join in the 2013 Holocaust observance by participating in an essay contest. The topic is “Why are the Days of
Remembrance so important”
Essays should be 1-2 pages in length, double-spaced, and 12-point font. There is a prize for the winner, and the
winning essay will be read to the audience at the Schilling Community Center April 8 at 5:30 p.m. before a movie.
Please submit essays to Tech. Sgt. Jocelyn Rich-Pendracki no later than noon April 5.

Unaccompanied housing needs dorm leaders
Kadena’s unaccompanied housing is looking for highly motivated staff sergeants and technical sergeants to fill vacant
Airman dorm leader positions. Applicants must possess the grade of staff sergeant, have a minimum of one year
experience as a supervisor, possess leadership and mentorship capability, not have any record of emotional
instability, disciplinary actions, or financial irresponsibility, ability to speak distinctly and to all levels of rank, possess
high standards of military appearance and conduct, and knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, supply,
accounting, facility maintenance procedures and management of personnel. This is a two year non-deployable
controlled tour. You must have two years left on your date eligible to return from overseas or be able to in-place
consecutive overseas tour to obtain two years. You cannot be receiving payment from a selective re-enlistment
bonus.

Virtual Space A Roll Call program
The 733rd Air Mobility Squadron hosts the first-ever virtual Space Available Roll Call program. The program allows
individuals the option to virtually compete for Space A flights with their email. This new initiative is more convenient
for their customers and the 733rd AMS will be testing the program through July 31.

5K fun run
A 5K fun run to benefit Kadena High School’s boys’ soccer program is March 30. Everyone is invited, including single

The cost is $10 per runner with prizes awarded for the top runner in each category (under 18 male, under 18 female,
18-30 male, 18-30 female, 31 and older male, 31 and older female).

Family advocacy hosts a parenting with love and logic workshop Mondays April 1-29 from 3-5 p.m. at Bldg. 128. They

can I get my teenage daughter to come home at the agreed upon time And many other parenting challenges.

Kadena High School class of ’13 charity golf tournament
A high school charity golf tournament is April 5 starting at 7 a.m. The tournament is a fundraising event held on behalf
of the graduating seniors to help raise funds to offset the costs associated with the senior trip and their graduation
party.
Prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place to include the longest drive and closest to the pin will be awarded. Lunch included in
this event.

DoDEA Okinawa hosts spring registration drive
The spring registration drive is in the Ryukyu Middle School’s gymnasium and cafeteria April 9-12 from 8 a.m. to noon
for families with children who will attend Sure Start (Pre-kindergarten)-12th grade for the 2013-2014 school years. All
students attending Department of Defense Education Activity Okinawa schools must re-register for the next school
year, and this process enables the district to project student enrollment and maintain current student information. This
year’s registration drive offers families with children in multiple schools to re-register, or to register for the next school
year, one place to do so. Student transportation officials and registrars from all 13 DoDEA schools will be on hand to
answer any questions and assist parents in completing the registration process.
Sponsors will be asked to revalidate current information including your current quarters address, telephone numbers
and emergency contacts. If your quarters have changed, bring your current on-base housing assignment letter or offbase
lease with a map to your house. Active-duty sponsors must bring a copy of extension orders if their orders will
expire before Aug. 30. Civilian sponsors must bring their current year certificate of employment letter to verify full-time
employment or renewal agreement travel orders.
Kindergarten registration will be available for children who will be age 5 by Sept. 1. New students will need sponsor’s
orders/extension or verification of employment, birth certificate or passport, immunization records, and a copy of
current housing assignment letter/off-base housing lease. Sure Start applications will also be available for students
who will be age 4 by Sept. 1.
