Museum<br />
This year's main attraction was Golden Jubilee Celebration which was inaugurated<br />
on 10th September <strong>1995</strong>. Founder's room was recreated and thcarticles associated<br />
with Pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>Birbal</strong> Salmi were relocated and placed systematically in such an order so<br />
as to give a look <strong>of</strong> period setting. The picture gallery was erected which depicts the important<br />
events <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Institute</strong>'s history. The Founder's room and the picture gallery were<br />
inaugurated by Pr<strong>of</strong>essor VS. RanJamurthy, Secretary to the Government <strong>of</strong> India,<br />
Department <strong>of</strong> Science and Technology, New Delhi. These two things have become additional<br />
attraction to the visitors.<br />
The <strong>Institute</strong> participated in an exhibition organised by the Department <strong>of</strong> Science<br />
and Technology during the 83rd Session <strong>of</strong> Indian Science Congrcss at Patiala. About five<br />
thousand persons visited and took keen interest in the <strong>Institute</strong>'s exhibits.<br />
National Science Day was celebrated as usual on 28th February, 19<strong>96</strong> The theme<br />
<strong>of</strong> this year's celebration was "India can do it". It was observed as open house. The visitors<br />
were taken round the Museum and different laboratories. A scientific poster competition<br />
was also organised for the school children in which 57 students participated. Educational<br />
films were also screened for the benefit <strong>of</strong> the visitors.<br />
Fossil specimens were gifted to 2 I educational<br />
special programme "<strong>Palaeobotany</strong> for Education".<br />
Institutions in the country under the<br />
Teachers and students <strong>of</strong> various Colleges and Institutions visited the Museum.<br />
Citizens from countries like France, Poland, Australia, Kyrgyzstan visited the <strong>Institute</strong>,<br />
besides from our own country.<br />

The scientists <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Institute</strong> deposited the specimens/ slides/ negatives <strong>of</strong> their<br />
