Field Excursions
Following field-trips/consultation/discussion/visits were undertaken by the scientists
and teclmical staff of the Institute:

Visited around Zinna and Siohari (Rohtas Limestone Fomlation, Semri Group)
and Bainkuiyan (Lower Shander Limestone Fomlation) exposed around the Khemri­
Kotar Hill, Satna District, Madhya Pradesh.

Visited Archaean beds exposed at NoanlUndi and Barbil areas for the collection of
chcrts, rocks showing geological and organo-sedimentary structures.

Visited Cretaceous-Tertiary localities ofTiruchirapalli District, Tamil Nadu. in
all, about 120 samples of coralline limestones were collected from Ariyalur, Kallankurchi,
Anandvadi. Niniyur, Sendurai, Peryarkurchi. Mattur, Ottakovil, Varagur, Dalmiapuram.
Chokkanathapuram and Radyapalam. The Iithocolumns were measured properly in the
mines or in the outcrop sections and the samples were collectcd rcspectively.

Visited sequences of Carboniferous and Pennian of the Upper Silesian Coal
Basin and the Lublin Coal Basin of Poland and Czech Republic during pre-Congress-13th
ICCP field trip. Collectcd Lower Pennian and Carboniferous plant fossils from fresh
water limestone deposits of Kaniowiee outcrop and from bore-core samples at DPB Company,
Paskow.
