The <strong>Institute</strong> has lost 3 members-Sri H.N. Boral, Senior Technical Officer, Sri P.S.<br />

Salujha, Mechanic and Sri Vishnu Kumar, Chowkidar during the year.<br />

On-going Effort's: 19<strong>96</strong>-97<br />

The year 19<strong>96</strong>-97 will be the last year <strong>of</strong> the VIII Five Year Plan. The programmes<br />

already identified under different projects will continue. Being the last year <strong>of</strong> the VUI Plan<br />

results <strong>of</strong> most <strong>of</strong> the Programmes will be completed and finalized. The investigations on the<br />

following aspects will be persued.<br />

The biota representing early life from Madhya Pradesh and Kumool basins will be<br />

studied and the results on the palacobiological remains recorded from Kaladgi, Cudapah,<br />

Bhima and Kumool basins will be finalized. The calcareous algae from Maastrichtian-Danian<br />

sequence around Ariyalur, Tiruchirapalli District, Tamil Nadu will be studied. The study <strong>of</strong><br />

plant fossils from Hura. Chuperbhita Jharia. Karanpura, Bokaro, Auranga, Talcher coalfields.<br />
