As one <strong>of</strong> the scientific programmes <strong>of</strong> the Golden Jubilee Year Celebrations, a<br />

Group Discussion on "Scientific aspects <strong>of</strong> Pre- and Proto-Historic India" was organised on<br />

November 15, <strong>1995</strong>. Scientists from five organizations discussed results <strong>of</strong> recent researches<br />

and their views on Stone Age hunter-gatherer, their tool making, glass and ceramic technologies,<br />

archaeometallurgical studies, plant domestication and socio-economic aspects <strong>of</strong> Early<br />

cultures <strong>of</strong> India. A two day "Hindi Karyashala" was also held at the <strong>Institute</strong> as part <strong>of</strong><br />

Golden Jubilee Celebrations from December 21-22, <strong>1995</strong>. Thought provoking lectures by<br />

renowned speakers including Sri Ram Dhaniram, Director, All India Radio, Lucknow; Pr<strong>of</strong>essor<br />

S.P. Dixit, Head, Hindi Department, Lucknow University, were delivered on the occasIon.<br />
