eocomian age has becn suggested.
Preliminary study of Balidih assemblage is in progress and efforts arc bcing made
to get cuticle for exact identification of Thinnfeldia like fronds present in the assemblage.
Section culling of Sonajori chert blocks and their examination is in progress.
The megafossils collected from Dhokuti locality were sorted out for studies. This
tossil assemblage shows the presence of genera like Marratiop.vis, Todites, Cladophlehis,
Sphenoptel'ls, l'tilophyl/llm, l'terophyl/llm, etc.
Morphotaxonomy, photodocumentation and identification of plant megafossils
of Sitalpur locality have been carried oul. Recorded megafossils are Cladophlehis,
I'tilophyllllln clltchense, P aClltifolillm, Elatocladlls sp., Brachyphyl/llm sp. and Arallcarites.
The floral assemblage on the whole is dominated by cycadophytes and conifers.
11,e ptcridophytic sporc populations rccorded in the lntertrappean beds were analysed.
The spores pertaining to tree fems Cyathiaceae. Dicksoniaceae. Osmundaceae and the
non-arboreal rhizomatous fem Gleieheniaceae and Sehizaeaceae, etc. are represented in the
population. The diversity of spores shows increase in tenns of qualitative richness progres
climate for the growth ofpteridoph)1es. On the basis of representation offern families in the
palynological data a subtropical to temperate climate has been interpreted.
From the Late Permian sediments of Rajmahal Basin characteristic pollen having
angiospcflllOid pollen exine characters having infrabaculate exine stmcturc with two sulcus
Samples from three bore-holes were collected for dating of DubraJpur sedIments
and the underlying coal horizon. The ~ pc section for Dubrajpur Formation in Sam'an
