Sailors in snow
White Christmas in Texas City
For the first time since 1899 Texas City
had snow on Christmas Day. The crew
of M/T Bow Cardinal was eyewitness
to the event. “I woke up at two
o’clock in the morning and looked out
of the window. To my great surprise it
was snowing!” explains Captain Kurt
Gustavsen. “We were told that this is
the first time since 1899 that Texas
City has had any snow whatsoever.
A nice coincidence that it should fall
on Christmas Day”. All the local
children were of course ecstatic about
this, and even some adults were seen
to throw some snowballs...

Bow Pilot off Japan
Bow Pilot has sent us some photos
taken on February 13th 2005, when
the vessel was delivering a cargo of
4,350 mts of kerosene at Ishikariwanko,
Hokkaido island on the Japanese
west coast. It was minus 4 degrees
centigrade at that time, and this was
the first time the vessel and its crew
experienced such snow covering on
deck.
