Fueling up Kids with Free Summer Lunch! 

Summer vacation is right around the corner. Even 

though kids may not be in class, they can still 

power their minds and bodies with a nutritious 

lunch. Poudre School District Child Nutrition is 

feeding kids this summer...for free! Any child, age 

18 or younger, in Larimer Country can receive free 

lunch this summer from June 3 - July 26. Also, 

adults can enjoy the same lunch for $3.00. 

Each lunch includes an entrée, milk and eight different fresh fruits and veggies to choose 

from.

We will be having fun outdoor activities, face painting and giving out cool prizes! 

WHEN IT'S HOT OUTSIDE... 

and kids are playing sports—or even just actively playing—head 

off problems by making sure they drink fluids before, during and 

after activity. As a guideline, encourage at least 

4 ounces of fluid every 15-20 minutes, or whenever there’s a break 

or time-out. Tip: One ounce equals about one "gulp." So kids need 

a minimum of 4 GULPS OF WATER EVERY 20 

MINUTES! Use caution when it’s hot outside, especially for 

active kids. In high temperatures, kids don’t sweat as much as 

adults do, so it’s harder for them to cool off. This makes them more at risk for dehydration 

and heat exhaustion.

PTO meeting Minutes 5.9.2013 

Proposals: 

2 nd Grade field trip to the Avery House. $4.86 per child- Passed 

3 rd Grade would like to purchase a vocabulary kit. $199.59 passed unanimously. 

3rd grade would also like to say thank you for funding the Mountain Math last year, has 

been great this year. 

Kindergarten- spent $132 to buy some flats of flowers as thank you gifts for garden 

helpers. Passed unanimously 

North 40- advertisement for the ARC truck. $102 for a 3.25x3” size add. Passed 

unanimously 

Mr. Sobson 

Walking school bus tomorrow. Eco week is coming up. 5k this Saturday. We just completed 

the 3rd grade assessment tests. Last year we had a score of 72%, this year we came in at 82%. 

We recognize the 3rd grade teachers as well as Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade teachers all 

contributed greatly to this success! 

We are anticipating being able to start having recess before lunch in the fall of 2013, right now 

we have a proposed schedule we are just finalizing.

Volunteer appreciation week, PODS went well, got notes back from volunteers saying thank 

you, teachers seemed to like this as well. 

We are adopting a new curriculum; we are narrowed down to 2 at this point. Teachers have 

had a chance to look over them and vote. It will be more updated, so we are all excited for that. 

Jr. Achievement went well. We are hoping to be more organized ahead of time next year. A 

few communications we had to wait until the last minute for this year before we could start 

rolling the ball, hopefully that's all worked out for next year. 

Bailey Combs got awarded the Masonic Award, it was a nice ceremony, well done! 

Field day got moved due to rain date. It went very well! It is a huge deal, lots of work for lots 

of people, but students really enjoy it. Thank you to all who helped the day run smoothly. 


PTO meeting Minutes 5.9.2013 (continued) 

District track competition going on right now, we've had to move some back due to weather. 

Year books are in, we order what was asked for plus a few extras. Will go out to the students 

in the last week of school. They cost $12 each, if anyone wants one of the surplus.

5k on Saturday. We are about 90 signed up for Eyestone and 150 for Rice as of right now. 

Packet pick-up times sent out in a recent email. 

t-shirt sales, order coming in. Kira would like to hand over the reins to someone else next 

year on t-shirts. Traci said she could be interested if it was done differently.

Budget passed unanimously. 

Mrs. Hayes (3 rd ) wants to do a fundraiser at McDonalds. Staff works at McDonalds from 5- 

8pm. More details coming. We like the money that would come in, we like that it is a local 

business, one potential downfall discussed is the potential of it contradicting the healthy 

habits we are really working on promoting right now.

Rotary Breakfast Club would like to ask PTO for donations for a personal dictionary for all 

3 rd graders. Will discuss this potential further at a future meeting.

Camhi- brought up popsicle party (a reward for the class who had the most students 

participate in the 5k). Carly will get the popsicles from Camhi and into the freezer and let 

teachers know who had the most students register, so they can have the party at their 

convenience.

Joan at the newsletter company proposed an event newsletter for the PTO’s in the 

district. Camhi is going to talk to Brian about what she currently does with local 

advertisers for our event newsletters, each advertiser earning up to $150 for the PTO.

and we will receive a portion of your sales. If you need one, send a note to school with 

your student (include your students name & classroom) and we will get one to you. 

Box Tops - Saving Box Tops is really easy! They can be found on tons of General 

Mills, Betty Crocker, Avery, Huggies, Hefty and Pillsbury just to name a few items. 

Check everything; you never know where you will find one! Visit their website to find 

out how your online shopping can also benefit us or to find great

Labels For Education Clip the UPC code or save the lid. Participating products are 

items like Campbell’s, Dannon Kids, Pepperidge Farm, Post, V8 and more are added all

Cartridges for Kids - Eyestone will even recycle your ink jet, laser printer cartridges, 

cell phones, PDA, laptop, iPods, digital camera, DVDs, GPS devices, video games & 

consoles, Scientific or Graphing calculators and iPads or Tablets for cash. If your item 

doesn’t work, they will recycle it so it stays out of the landfill.

Coke Rewards – Enter the codes you find under the cap of Coca Cola products or on the 

inside of a box at www.MyCokeRewards.com and then donate the points to Eyestone. If 

you are unable to enter the codes yourself, you can send them to school. We have a 

volunteer that is willing to help enter them. 

Colorado Iron and Metal will recycle your metal and credit the amount to Eyestone. 

They are located at 1400 E. Mulberry. Call 530-0300 with questions. 

Morning Fresh Dairy Caps - Save milk caps from Morning Fresh Dairy (home 

delivery only). Any variety of cap works. When we have 1,000 or more caps we can 

redeem them for cash. They are worth 5¢ each. 

Office Depot – 5% Back to Schools Program: Use ID# 70018600 when you shop at 

Office Depot and our school will earn rewards. You can even use it when you use your 

personal rewards card. 

King Soopers Neighborhood Rewards Program – Purchase a reloadable gift card 

through Eyestone and every time the card is reloaded Eyestone receives 5% back. You 

can get an order form at the front office. 

Tyson – Save the Project A+ label found on many Tyson Products.
