Year of Chemistry<br />

<strong>INCT</strong>-INOFAR was an active part of the celebrations of<br />

the International Year of Chemistry (AIQ), coordinating<br />

its researchers to develop actions in the publicizing and<br />

popularization of Chemistry in Brazil.<br />

A special article for an important scientific publication in<br />

Brazil, interviews for the “365 Days of Chemistry” project,<br />

the production of an e-book on Chemistry and health,<br />

participation in the AIQ Cycle of Conferences and supporting<br />

the Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2008 conference in <strong>UFRJ</strong><br />

were the main actions undertaken by <strong>INCT</strong>-INOFAR in the<br />

International Year of Chemistry.<br />

Special Article on “Science Today” Magazine<br />

At the request of the editors, <strong>INCT</strong>-INOFAR researchers Eliezer J. Barreiro,<br />

Lidia M. Lima, Carlos Manssour Fraga, and Rodolfo C. Maia, connected to<br />

the Evaluation and Synthesis of Bioactive Substances Laboratory (LASSBio®/<br />

<strong>UFRJ</strong>) published a special article on Science Today magazine on the art of<br />

creating pharmaceuticals and medications of synthetic origin.<br />
