The Pharmaceuticals Portal is the <strong>INCT</strong>-INOFAR website for<br />
the publicizing and popularization of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Through this portal, <strong>INCT</strong>-INOFAR<br />
publicizes its research activities, in language accessible to laypeople, and makes its Health Education<br />
materials available.<br />
In sync with new trends in scientific journalism, the Pharmaceuticals Portal provides the schedule and<br />
also the media coverage of relevant scientific events. It also publishes new articles on current themes in<br />
pharmaceutical innovation and health sciences. It also produces cartoons that increase awareness of the<br />
irrational use of medications, proposing conscious alternatives for their use instead.<br />
- Publicizing the research activities carried out by <strong>INCT</strong>-INOFAR, in language accessible to laypeople;<br />
- Publishing new articles on current themes in pharmaceutical innovation and health sciences;<br />
- Schedule and media coverage of the main scientific events in the field;<br />
- Download of <strong>INCT</strong>-INOFAR educational booklets on the correct use of medications;<br />
- Publishing cartoons to create awareness of the irrational use of medications.<br />
In <strong>2011</strong>, the International Year of Chemistry (AIQ) was celebrated, and the Pharmaceuticals Portal<br />
contributed by covering several events that were part of this celebration. Among them was the official<br />
launch of the AIQ in Brazil, the 34th RASBQ – <strong>Annual</strong> Meeting of the Brazilian Society of Chemistry,<br />
XVIII Regional Meeting of the Brazilian Society of Chemistry (SBQ-Rio) and the Nobel Prize in<br />
Chemistry 2008 Conference at <strong>UFRJ</strong>.<br />
Some of the themes of the articles published in the Pharmaceuticals Portal in <strong>2011</strong> include advances in<br />
Medicinal Chemistry, vaccination, biodiversity as an inspiration, challenges of the Brazilian pharmaceutical<br />
industry, Pharmacy symbology, intellectual property, development of phytotherapeuticals, history of<br />
Chemistry, government-private sector partnerships, pharmaceutical innovation, and new generic drugs.<br />
Over 100 never before published articles and interviews have been published so far in the Pharmaceuticals<br />
Portal since <strong>INCT</strong>-INOFAR was created in 2009.
