Highlights<br />
Synthesis of MB101(6a) and MB130 (6b) from isatin (2a and 2b).<br />
The two novel 2-hydroxyacetophenones derived from isatin - MB101 and MB130 - produced<br />
vasodilatation and negative cardiac inotropism by stimulation of bradykinin, muscarinic and opioid<br />
receptors in smooth and cardiac muscles. MB101 was selective to vascular tissue, but less potent than<br />
MB130. This may be because iodine in the aromatic ring of MB101 possibly interfered with its affinity<br />
for different receptors.
