CALL TO ORDER
President Kevin Ellis called the February 21, 2013 meeting to order at 10:17 am.
MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING
The January 24, 2013 minutes were approved by the Board of Directors on a motion by
Tim Grierson seconded by Dave Dill.
SCMAF FINANCIAL REPORT as of January 31, 2013
Balance on hand in Checking Accounts $21, 510.84

The Board approved the January 2013 Financial Report on a motion by Tim Grierson
and seconded by Lanny Binney.
PRESIDENT’S REPORT – Kevin Ellis, Downey
President Kevin Ellis welcomed everyone for attending the executive board meeting. He
was happy to report on the success of SCMAF at Soccer Nation. SCMAF hosted an
Educational Session meeting on the soccer sport Futsal, - What are agencies
involvement with user groups, and attended the CAL South Awards Banquet. Kevin is
looking forward to a very successful year and hopes to have membership work towards
achieving attainable goals to make SCMAF a more successful organization.
DIRECTOR’S REPORT – Tim Ittner, SCMAF Executive Director
Tim Ittner reported the SCMAF Social at the CPRS conference is Wednesday, March
6 th 8:00-10:00 PM at the Loft Bar & Bistro. The committee is finalizing plans and
invitations have been e-mailed. The 2013 SCMAF membership directory and annual
membership packet will be mailed in mid-March.

ASSOCIATION REPORTS
SCMAF BAY AREA/SOUTHEAST– Tim Grierson, Carson & Mark Flores, Lynwood
The new BASE logo was created and will now be put on everything.
BASE budget has been finalized and submitted for approval to the board.
The Bay Area and South East bank accounts have now been merged thanks to the help
and coordination of Tim Ittner. The signees have been updated on the account and the
account will keep the name SCMAF South East until all the checks have been used up.
Next General membership meeting will be in South Gate on Tuesday, March 12, 2013
and the SCMAF office will talk about the TULIP program and other services they can
provide, and Manuel Cantu will talk about how to setup a Futsal program for your
agency.
City of Carson will be hosting the Hershey’s Track and Field games on Saturday, June
8, 2013. There will be a pre-qualifier on Saturday, April 27, 2013. Both events are free.
This will be a great opportunity to promote the SCMAF BASE Association meet and the
SCMAF final. Talk to Kenny Harris, City of Carson, for more information.
SCMAF CHANNEL CITIES – Lanny Binney, Pleasant Valley
Next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, March 21 in Santa Barbara.

Strategic Initiatives
Strategic Planning Consultant RFP- The Strategic Planning Consultant Services RFP
proposals are due Thursday, March 7 th . The review committee will meet on March 20 th
to select the top firms to make a presentation to the SCMAF Board in April.
2013 Goals & Objectives- Kevin Ellis highlighted the major themes for the 2013 Goals
& Objectives.

The Base budget was approved on a motion by Dave Dill, seconded by Lanny Binney.
INVESTMENTS- Kevin Ellis, Downey
The committee meet February 7 th via webinar with Robert Venezia, Key Investment
Team to review the 2012 4 th Quarter. Ralph Aranda was added to the committee on a
motion by Dave Dill, seconded by Tim Grierson.

INSURANCE- Dave Dill, RB Sports
The new special event website link is on the SCMAF website home page. Staff is
marketing to agencies who are participating in the Recreation class insurance program.
SCMAF UNIVERSITY/MARKETING – Bill Bant, SCMAF
The first training program of the year is scheduled for February 25 th, How to Run a
Tennis Program in the City of Irvine. The committee is looking for session topics and
facilitators for the 2013 educational sessions and SCMAF Institute, September 26 in
Yorba Linda. SCMAF is marketing agency programs on our Facebook account. An
Instragram account will be set up for picture posting.
