Thanks to its unique self-contained concept, <strong>Easy</strong>-e-Beam TM integrates in one unique system the E-beam<br />

accelerator and the wire handling system, both of them being managed by a single PLC-based Control<br />

System.<br />

Wire and Cable Handling System<br />

The underbeam capstan system is a four-drum design which can<br />

accommodate wires and cables from 0.22 mm² up to 30 mm² (0.4 kcmil<br />

up to 60 kcmil). These smooth, stainless steel drums are machined<br />

and balanced for high speed processing and allow wire splices to pass<br />

without interruption. The spacing of the wires is controlled by grooved<br />

roller guides that are free to rotate when in contact with the wires.<br />

Small wires twist slightly while passing between the drums. This assures<br />

sufficiently uniform exposure to the electron beam after few passes<br />

under the electron beam...<br />

Integrated Safety Shielding<br />

For the protection of personnel in the work environment, <strong>Easy</strong>e-Beam<br />

TM complies with all the safety regulations for electron<br />

beam facilities. A safety interlock system shuts down this electrical<br />

equipment if access to the electron beam process area is<br />

attempted while in use.<br />

Control System<br />

The control system is an industrial<br />

PLC-based system that integrates<br />

all of the process variables and<br />

maintains a log of process conditions.<br />

It is user-friendly, making the <strong>Easy</strong>-e-Beam TM<br />

processing convenient for production operators.<br />

An Accelerator Pressure Vessel<br />

that houses the voltage generating<br />

components, the high voltage terminal, the<br />

electron gun and the electron acceleration<br />

tube.<br />

A Vacuum Pumping System<br />

which includes, in addition to the fore pump<br />

and turbo-molecular pump, a thermocouple<br />

gauge, an ion gauge and controller, and a<br />

control system that ensures a safe shutdown<br />

and automatic restart if a power failure<br />

occurs.<br />

A Radio Frequency Oscillator<br />

that transforms incoming three-phase line<br />

power into single-phase RF power for the<br />

high voltage generating system in the<br />

pressure vessel.<br />

An Insulating Gas Subsystem<br />

which is used to store the sulfur<br />

hexafluoride (SF6) gas used within the<br />

pressure vessel if and when maintenance<br />

is performed on the electrical components<br />

in the pressure vessel. SF6 gas is a<br />

reliable insulator that prevents electrical<br />

discharges between components within<br />

the pressure vessel.<br />

Wire and Cable Crosslinking Process<br />

Wires and cables that are wound on reels are fed into the <strong>Easy</strong>-e-Beam TM and then, after electron beam<br />

treatment, are rewound onto take-up reels. With <strong>Easy</strong>-e-Beam TM this requires only a limited amount of<br />

valuable plant floor space.<br />
