Fun With Watercolor I
This painting class introduces beginning students to
the fundamentals of making beautiful watercolors.
Learn how to use paint, brushes and paper to create
easy and fun effects that excite and entertain. All the
basic techniques of paint application and tool usage are
covered, as well as professional strategies for starting,
executing and finishing paintings. Have lots of fun
with watercolors while learning professional-quality
techniques. Michael McGuire is an accomplished artist

Personal Expression Through Watercolor
Watercolor is a very spontaneous and luminous
medium. This painting class introduces students to
the fundamentals of making beautiful watercolors.
Learn the basics required to create easy and fun effects
and explore individual, personal expression. All the
beginning techniques of painting and tool usage are
covered, as well as how to get started, execute and finish
paintings in no time. Have lots of fun with watercolors

Beginning Silk Painting
This course will introduce the exciting field of painting
on silk. Even beginners can produce amazing wearable
art accessories, quilting, wall hangings and fine art. Use
many different techniques when dyeing and painting on
silk including shibori, resist and discharge techniques.
A review of the history of silk, its many uses and its
properties will be discussed. Contemporary use of silk,
as in inkjet printing, printmaking and experimental
techniques, will be encouraged in this class. Most
supplies are included in the course fee. Sande Anderson
has been working with silk for more than 20 years. She
has a master’s degree in art from Sacramento State
University, California.

Water-Based Printmaking With Akua Inks
Explore a new dimension of creativity with Akua inks
in this dynamic class with Judy Just. Beginning and
experienced artists will have an opportunity to explore
various printmaking techniques. Mine your artistic vision
using a wide variety of methods. These inks are easy, fun
and safe to use, if you follow a few basic principles. Judy
Just has been an artist and teacher for 30 years and has
10 years of experience using Akua inks. There is no class
on July 4.

Repeatable Images
Are you ready to take your art making skills to a new
level This class will focus on a variety of safe, waterbased
printmaking processes to make images that can
be printed several times. We will focus on creating
imagery combining techniques in one print. It is an
opportunity to push your creativity and have fun. Judy
Just is an accomplished Santa Fe painter and printmaker.

CRAFTS
Enthusiasm and a desire to learn something new are
the only requirements for our crafts classes. Continuing
Education students learn new skills and make crafts to give
as gifts or keep for themselves. If there is a supply list, it
may be found on the website after the course title under
“Syllabus Available.”
Clay: Throwing on the Pottery Wheel
In a friendly environment, learn the basics of how to
use the pottery wheel to make functional pots. Learn
everything from wedging the clay, centering on the
wheel, to how to trim, finish and glaze your cups, mugs,
bowls and other objects. Students are encouraged to
repeat the class and build their skills of throwing on the
wheel. Adele Devalcourt is a graduate of the University
of Louisiana.
