film. The sumptuous score includes "It Might As Well Be
Spring," "You Never Had it So Good," and "It's a Grand
Night for Singing." Set against the colorful backdrop of an
American heartland tradition, Rodgers & Hammerstein’s
State Fair is a winning start to this historic season!
This Broadway sensation explodes with big songs, big hair and
big dreams this holiday season! It’s 1962 and Tracy Turnblad
has one passion in life - to dance on The Corny Collins
Show. Tracy grooves her way into instant stardom and the
eyes of teen dream Link Larkin. But with the program’s scheming
producer against her, Tracy needs her best friend Penny, her
big-hearted mother and the sassy Motormouth Maybelle to
show the world that a dream can make a big difference.
In 1947, Broadway’s hottest young writer brought his newest
play to the Walnut. It was an exotic, erotic, passionate and
dramatic story set in the steamy French Quarter of New
Orleans. Blanche DuBois, a faded southern belle, takes us on
a journey of delicate indiscretions, lost dreams and brutish
actions into her own madness, aided by her handsome,
masculine brother-in-law, Stanley Kowalski. One of the greatest
dramas of all time returns to where it began in 1947,
now part of the Walnut’s 200th Anniversary celebration.
Born Yesterday is America’s funniest screwball comedy!
Harry Brock goes to Washington to try to break into the
“special interest” business with an ethically-challenged senator.
He realizes that his fiancée, Billie Dawn, may need a
makeover to fit his new inside-the-beltway image. Brock hires
a dashing D.C. journalist to give the seemingly dim-witted
blonde a crash course in politics, history, literature, and – of
course – true love. All-American humor, independence and
true love weren’t born yesterday, they are stronger than ever!
Mel Brooks’ The Producers opened on Broadway to unanimous rave
reviews, earning a record-breaking twelve Tony Awards. In this
laugh-out-loud musical comedy, scheming producer Max Bialystock
and his mousy accountant Leo Bloom discover that they can make
more money producing a Broadway flop than they can with a hit.
They decide to produce the worst Broadway musical of all time.
But what will they do when their sure-to-offend musical becomes
a surprise sensation The Producers is a spectacular finale
to our all-American season!
