in a plane crash along with Valens, Richardson,
and pilot Roger Peterson. The tragic plane crash
inspired singer Don McLean’s popular 1971
ballad “American Pie,” and immortalized
February 3rd as “The Day The Music Died.”
Contrary to popular myth, “American Pie” was
not the name of the ill-fated airplane.
ALAN JANES (Author) has been a full-time
writer since 1973, when a stage play he wrote
was adapted for TV. Since then, he has written
extensively for radio, TV and film. In 1989,
Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story, written by Alan,
was presented in the West End and ran for 13
years. The show has enjoyed worldwide success,
including playing Broadway, Sweden, South
Africa, Japan, Germany, Holland, Singapore,
Finland, Austria and Denmark. Alan was nominated
for an Olivier Award for Best Musical.
CASEY HUSHION (Direction/ Choreography)
is the Artistic Director of North Carolina
Theatre, where she has directed 20 productions.

Broadway Theatre). Aida (Sacramento Music
Circus). On the road he’s played keyboard with
the national tour of Camelot starring Michael

Director for the National Tour of Cabaret.

is Lori’s sixth season here at the Walnut. Prior
