C.31.9 Competitors <strong>for</strong> whom the preponderance of evidence shows that they have<br />

broken these <strong>Rules</strong> may be disqualified from the event by the organizer or, in<br />

response to a protest, by the jury.<br />

C.31.10 The organizer or jury may disqualify a competitor <strong>for</strong> “following” if they<br />

cannot draw the route skied, or upon other evidence.<br />

C.31.11 Competitors <strong>for</strong> whom the preponderance of the evidence shows that they<br />

have intentionally broken these <strong>Rules</strong> causing a course to be voided may be<br />

disqualified by the Jury from the current event as well as future <strong>Orienteering</strong> <strong>USA</strong><br />

events <strong>for</strong> a period of up to two years.<br />

C.31.12 The organizer must void a race if circumstances have arisen which make<br />

the race significantly unfair.<br />

C.32 Competitor Conduct<br />

C.32.1 Competitors must follow sections of the course marked as required routes.<br />

C.32.2 Once competitors cross the finish line their competition is over, and they shall not<br />

return to the competition area without permission from the organizer.<br />

C.32.3 Competitors who do not finish (DNF) must report to the finish and return their<br />

control card and map. They shall in no way attempt to influence the competition<br />

or other competitors.<br />

C.32.4 Competitors must not use outside help when waxing their skis or repairing their<br />

equipment while competing in a race.<br />

C.32.5 Competitors may use wax and waxing equipment offered by the control officials.<br />

C.32.6 Competitors may carry the means <strong>for</strong> waxing and repair;<br />

C.32.7 Competitors are obliged to give - if requested - the track to a passing competitor<br />

when only one ski track or narrow skiable route is available.<br />

C.32.8 Competitors may be offered drinks only at official refreshment controls;<br />

C.32.9 Competitors are permitted to bring their own refreshment supply and renew that<br />

supply at refreshment controls.<br />

C.33 Equipment<br />

C.33.1 Choice of clothing shall be up to the individual, but shall be appropriate regarding<br />

safety <strong>for</strong> the weather conditions.<br />

C.33.2 The organizers may require competitors to wear identifying numbers that shall be<br />

clearly visible on the front side of the left thigh. Folding the start number is not<br />

allowed.
