A.5.2 The Course Setter is appointed by the host and listed on the sanctioning<br />

application and is responsible <strong>for</strong> designing and overseeing the setting of all<br />

courses.<br />

A.5.3 The Course Vetter is appointed by the host and listed on the sanctioning<br />

application. The Course Vetter shall be a different person than the Course Setter.<br />

The Course Vetter is responsible <strong>for</strong> checking all aspects of the course setting,<br />

including:<br />

a) Checking the quality of the map in relation to the specific courses and<br />

control locations and assisting with any overprinting which may be<br />

required.<br />

b) Checking the correct position of the start, map issue point, control flags<br />

and finish location.<br />

c) Checking the correct codes on the control flags against the codes on the<br />

control description cards, and the location and visibility of the marking<br />

equipment (i.e. punches).<br />

d) Making sure that the control descriptions are appropriate and that they<br />

correctly describe the positions of the control flags.<br />

e) Making sure that the courses and other in<strong>for</strong>mation pre-printed on the<br />

maps are properly drawn.<br />

A.5.4 The Meet Registrar is appointed by the host and listed on the sanctioning<br />

application and is responsible <strong>for</strong> handling the entries <strong>for</strong> the event.<br />

A.5.5 The Map Coordinator is appointed by the host and listed on the sanctioning<br />

application and is responsible <strong>for</strong> insuring the accuracy, appropriateness, and<br />

proper <strong>for</strong>matting of the maps used <strong>for</strong> competition.<br />

A.5.6 The five positions listed above must be covered by no fewer than three different<br />

people (Course Setter, Course Vetter, and one other key staff member).<br />

A.5.7 A Course Consultant is appointed by the Course Consultant Committee once the<br />

event is sanctioned and is responsible <strong>for</strong> reviewing the course designs and<br />

providing advice to the course setter:<br />

a) To make sure that the courses will be proper <strong>for</strong> their level and consistent<br />

with these rules.<br />

b) As to the suitability of the courses <strong>for</strong> the particular event and area.<br />

c) As to the suitability of the start, the map issue point, and the finish<br />

location.<br />

A.5.8 An Event Consultant may be appointed by the Sanctioning Committee depending<br />

on need and availability and coordinates with the Meet Director as follows:<br />

a) Ensure that all rules are followed.<br />

b) Check that the map is progressing satisfactorily.
