JAPANESE GOVERNMENT (MONBUKAGAKUSHO:MEXT) SCHOLARSHIP FOR 2013<br />
(UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS)<br />
MEXT (M<strong>in</strong>istry of Education, Culture, Sports, Scienc<br />
who wish to study at <strong>Japan</strong>ese universities as under<br />
Scholarship Program for 2013 as follows.<br />
1. FIELDS OF STUDY<br />
Those who wish to study <strong>in</strong> <strong>Japan</strong> as an undergraduate student must choose a field of major from (1) or<br />
(2) below. Applicants may enter a first, second, and third choice.<br />
(1) Social Sciences and Humanities<br />
Social Sciences and Humanities-A: Laws, Politics,<br />
and others.<br />
Social Sciences and Humanities-B: Economics, and Bu<br />
Note #1: Applicants who wish “others<br />
to ” major may have <strong>in</strong> the difficu fiel<br />
universities that can accept them.<br />
Note #2: Major field “Economics ” content and “Bus<strong>in</strong>ess related Adm<strong>in</strong>istration<br />
” of to Humanities<br />
<strong>in</strong>cluded “others. ” <strong>in</strong><br />
(2) Natural Sciences<br />
Natural Sciences-A: Science (Mathematics,<br />
Electrical Eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g, Information Eng<strong>in</strong>eer<br />
Naval Architecture), Civil Eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g and<br />
Environmental Eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g), Chemical Studie<br />
Industrial Chemistry, Textile Eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g),<br />
Eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g, Maritime Eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g, Biotechno<br />
Natural Sciences-B: Agricultural studies (<br />
Science, Veter<strong>in</strong>ary Medic<strong>in</strong>e, Forestry, Food<br />
Hygienics, Nurs<strong>in</strong>g), and Science (Biology).<br />
Natural Sciences-C: Medic<strong>in</strong>e, and Dentistr<br />
Note: An <strong>in</strong>ternational student who <strong>in</strong>tends to maj<br />
major is required to choose and select first-, sec<br />
from with<strong>in</strong> the same course (i.e. Natural Science<br />
his/her first choice may choose his/her second-cho<br />
from Course B because Course C offers only two sub<br />
2. QUALIFICATIONS<br />
(1) Nationality: Applicant must have the nationalit<br />
<strong>government</strong>. This applies at such times to stateles<br />

3. TERM OF SCHOLARSHIP<br />
Scholarship<br />
awards will be tenable for five years from Apr<br />

4. SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS<br />

(2) Travel<strong>in</strong>g Costs<br />
1 Transportation to <strong>Japan</strong>: Each grantee will be pro<br />
by MEXT, with an economy class air ticket from th<br />
to Narita International Airport (or follow<strong>in</strong>g the<br />
placed). Expenses such as <strong>in</strong>land transportation f<br />
airport, airport tax, airport usage charges, speci<br />

5. SELECTION<br />

For applicants for a major <strong>in</strong> Natural Sciences: Al<br />
selected from among physics, chemistry and biolog<br />

6. PREPARATORY EDUCATION PRIOR TO PLACEMENT AT UNIVERSITY<br />
(1) Preparatory Education prior to Placement at Uni<br />
designated by MEXT for a one-year <strong>in</strong>tensive course<br />
preparation for proceed<strong>in</strong>g to university. The prep<br />
consist of education <strong>in</strong> the <strong>Japan</strong>ese language, but<br />
English, and social studies for those major<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> S<br />
for those major<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> Natural Sciences. Please note<br />
he/she is determ<strong>in</strong>ed <strong>in</strong>capable of complet<strong>in</strong>g . (He/she the pw<br />
required to return home upon such determ<strong>in</strong>ation.)<br />

7. UNIVERSITY EDUCATION<br />
(1) Entrance <strong>in</strong>to University: A grantee who has com<br />
designated by MEXT upon pass<strong>in</strong>g its entrance exam<strong>in</strong><br />
will be decided by MEXT <strong>in</strong> consultation with the u<br />
consideration of the results of the academic exami<br />
academic achievement at the ’s proposed preparatory major school, subject, the<br />
of the university. No objection by the grantee agai<br />
(2) Academic Year: The academic year beg<strong>in</strong>s on April<br />
(3) Language Used <strong>in</strong> Education: All classes will be<br />
at a university which requires no <strong>Japan</strong>ese language<br />

(4) Degree of “Gakushi”( Bachelor's Degree ): If a<br />
number of years and earns the number of credits as<br />
degree of “Gakushi.”<br />

9. NOTES<br />

customs, and university education <strong>in</strong> <strong>Japan</strong> as well<br />

<strong>Japan</strong>.<br />
