Palm oil industry is the main exported product in<br />
Malaysia, consequently, million tons of palm oil waste<br />
was produced annually. Approximately 4 million<br />
tons/year from its waste was generated, which leads to<br />
extensive criticism and complaints, which are prompted<br />
mainly by its chronic, carcinogenic, and bioaccumulative<br />
effects. The waste such as palm fibers, nut<br />
shells, palm kernel and empty fruit bunches is the solid<br />
waste obtained from palm oil processing for oil<br />
extraction. These wastes were incinerated in the boiler<br />
and the waste from this process known as palm ash. The<br />
palm ash can used in the production of ge<strong>op</strong>olymer due<br />

to high content of Si. This product was described as a<br />
protective coating material that suitable to use for<br />
surface of concrete building, metal or clay and it can<br />
withstand high heat exposure, chemicals attack or<br />
abrasion. Moreover, this type of coating also can <strong>op</strong>erate<br />
as X-ray shielding for building that use X-ray<br />
machinery. Besides that, this coating provides excellent<br />
pr<strong>op</strong>erties such as high strength, chemical resistance,<br />
and excellent mechanical performance at both ambient<br />
and elevated temperature. It has valuable uses in<br />
construction industry, transportation projects or<br />
petrochemical plants.<br />
