The present invention deals with a treatment method, a chemical<br />
restoration and biological disinfection of the degraded historical<br />
paper surface using hydroxyapatite nan<strong>op</strong>articles suspension in<br />
alcoholic solution. It is shown both the nan<strong>op</strong>articles suspension<br />
preparation and the device and spraying method of this suspension<br />
on the paper undergone. Some details about the chemical and<br />
biological composition of the paper samples, before and after<br />
treatment are evaluated, too.<br />
The novelty and the advantages offered by this invention are:<br />
• the application of hydroxyapatite nan<strong>op</strong>articles<br />
suspension prepared in the laboratory and sprayed on the<br />
surface of damaged paper;<br />
• the treated paper is left to dry in air, at room temperature,<br />
in order to allow the interaction between the powdered<br />
nan<strong>op</strong>articles and the degraded cellulose fibres gaining<br />
consistency and strength.<br />
• hydroxyapatite nan<strong>op</strong>articles are less aggresive;<br />
• the method shows minor disadvantages in terms of used<br />
solvent (is<strong>op</strong>r<strong>op</strong>anol, environment friendly solvent (Wei<br />
t'O method uses CFC (chlorofluorocarbon = freon);<br />
• the treatment is simple and requires no special equipment;<br />
• the treatment with hydroxyapatite nan<strong>op</strong>articles of the<br />
paper allows concomitantly chemical restoration and<br />
biological disinfection (inactivation of fungi<br />
Aspergillus şi Penicillium classes.<br />
