‘ooh’ and ‘aah’ over shipboard laser light
spectaculars, ocean-view water slides
and on-deck surfing If you’re ready,
Port Canaveral is ready for you! Our
already popular homeported fleet is being
enhanced now by some of the newest and
biggest ships in the world, including Royal
Caribbean’s Freedom of the Seas, the
brand-new Carnival Dream and the Disney
Dream (coming in 2011).
But rest assured that while our home fleet is
changing, the other feature that has made us so
popular with savvy cruise travelers remains the
same: the pleasant, relaxed experience of getting
here and being here.
Choose from our 3-, 4-, 7- or 14-day/night
getaways to the Bahamas, eastern or western
Caribbean, and you can arrive at a seaport
unhampered by big city congestion; park
conveniently close to your ship (or fly in to a nearby
airport and find yourself delivered right to our
door); check-in at a gorgeous cruise terminal with
the relaxing atmosphere of a tropical paradise. Port
Canaveral will put you in the cruising mood long
before you board!
TO GET HERE FROM ANYWHERE
As far as we are from big-city
congestion, still we offer all the
benefits of great transportation
links. No matter where you’re
coming from, there is an easy
way to get here…by air, by rail
or by highway.
If You’re
Traveling By Air…
You have lots of options. There
are five airports, including four
international airports, within an
easy drive of the Port. Choose the
one that suits you best by checking
the availability and times of flights
from your originating airport or by
considering what else you want to
see and do here in Florida.
• Orlando International Airport
— primary hub for air travel
to and from Central Florida,
approximately 45 minutes west
of the Port
• Melbourne International Airport
— closest full-service airport,
located 26 miles or approximately
40 minutes south of the Port
• Orlando Sanford International
Airport — approximately one
hour northwest
• Space Coast Regional Airport
— accommodates corporate and
small commercial jets, only 20
minutes away
• Daytona Beach International
Airport — approximately 75 miles
north of Port Canaveral, minutes
from Daytona Beach and the
Daytona International Speedway
You will find many options for
getting to and from your chosen
airport. Shuttles, taxicabs and limos
are available outside all of our cruise
terminals. Most major car rental
agencies have locations a short
distance from our terminals, with
complimentary shuttle service.
If you’re renting a car and need
driving directions from the airport,
If You’re
Traveling By Rail…
Amtrak has an Auto Train station in Sanford, Florida,
about an hour northwest of Port Canaveral and
a stop on their Silver Service line in Orlando,
about an hour west of the Port. Visit
Port Canaveral CRUISE Guide 3
FROM ARRIVAL TO EMBARKATION
Once you’ve arrived at Port
Canaveral, most of the ‘work’ of
your cruise vacation is done. Our job
is to make sure that your trip goes
smoothly from here, so relax and
have a great time!
Follow Easy Signage
For your comfort and convenience,
the best plan is to arrive at your
cruise terminal no more than 30
minutes prior to your scheduled
embarkation time. Check our Port
map for your terminal location.
To make reaching it as simple as
possible, easy-to-follow signage
begins pointing the way even
before you reach our borders.
Large highways signs on all major
approaches should lead you to
the right Port gate, where our
in-port signage takes over the job
of making your destination easy to
find. For those of you using GPS
for navigation, we’ve also included
the addresses of our major cruise
terminals and parking garages.
But if you do have any trouble,
don’t worry. Any member of our
Port staff will be happy to assist you.
Enjoy Terminal-Side
Parking
Each of our six beautiful cruise
terminals has its own parking area,
conveniently located and kept
secure by the watchful eyes of our
24-hour security team. Passengers
at Terminal 10 can choose between
an outdoor parking area and a
six-level parking garage
whose fresh and colorful wall art
makes it easy to find. Adjacent
to Cruise Terminal 8, a new
1,000-space parking garage (open
Fall 2010) offers Disney Cruise
passengers a similar choice.
Having your cruise ticket handy
will smooth your passage through
the security gates. You can drive
directly to the terminal parking lot
or drop off luggage and passengers
right at the terminal and then park
your vehicle. Either way, you’ll love
how short the journey is from car
to terminal. Special parking spaces
are provided for disabled persons
with specially equipped vehicles
or Florida permits. If you need a
permit, you can call the State of
Florida at 800-983-2435 to apply.
Know Parking Fees
Upfront
Long-term parking fees are $15/day
for vehicles up to 20 feet in length
and $26/day for vehicles over 20
feet. Please pay the fee for the full
period you will be parked when you
enter the parking area. We accept
cash, Visa, Mastercard and Traveler’s
Checks issued in U.S. dollars.
(Note that all fees stated above are subject
to change without notice by the Canaveral
Port Authority.)
Trouble-Free Navigation to Your In-Port Destinations
To make it easy to find cruise ships, which may be berthed at a cruise terminal on either the A or B side of the harbor,
signs provide clear directions. Cruise lines and ships are listed on the signs, along with the appropriate exits.
of sailing out of Port Canaveral. It currently has two beautiful ships homeported here: Carnival Sensation, offering
3- and 4-day cruises to the Bahamas, and the biggest and newest member of the Carnival fleet — the impressive
3,652-passenger Carnival Dream, with 7-day itineraries to the eastern and western Caribbean. Take the Dream
and you’ll be among the first to indulge in the amenities of a whole new class of ship: the Carnival WaterWorks
Here Comes the Sun
Beginning in October 2010, Port Canaveral’s homeported fleet grows to include a ship from Norwegian Cruise Line...
not just any ship but the very ship that launched the company’s innovative ‘Freestyle Cruising’ experience — the
1,936-passenger Norwegian Sun. With no schedules, no regimen, you can eat somewhere different every night,
rejuvenate at the Body Waves Spa, practice your game at the Sun Club Casino or finally read the book that’s been
sitting on your nightstand for months...On a seasonal basis — from October to April — the Sun will follow 7- and 14-
day itineraries that alternate between the eastern and western Caribbean.
Port Canaveral CRUISE Guide 11
AT PORT CANAVERAL
Would you like to re-create yourself
Be transported from stressed to
relaxed From bored to invigorated
From indoor pale to outdoor tan
At Port Canaveral, we have an
abundance of options for turning
an idle hour, day or week into a
transforming experience.
Stake Your Claim
to a Spot in the Sun
Our three public waterfront parks
provide more recreational facilities
than Florida’s other 13 deepwater
seaports combined. There is a park
to suit everyone’s style, from 35-acre
Jetty Park with its ocean beach,
campground and air-conditioned
refreshment center to quiet 4-acre
Rodney S. Ketcham Park with its stop
on the Great Florida Birding Trail.
Bring Home a Fish Tale
Fishing is a popular sport at Port
Canaveral, and there are many ways
to do it. If you like to keep your
feet on dry land, try fishing from
one of our parks. Our most popular
fishing spot is the paved and lighted
Malcolm E. McLouth Fishing Pier
at Jetty Park. Anglers gather here
around the clock to try their luck
at snook, Spanish mackerel, drum
and other challenging sport fish.
If offshore fishing calls to you,
chartering services are readily
available at Port Canaveral for
half-day, full-day and nighttime
excursions. You can join a scheduled
tour or fishing expedition or plan
your own party. For more information
about charters in the Port area, cast
your line to the Canaveral Charter
Captains’ Association website at
www.fishingspacecoast.org.
Snack, Wine, Dine
or Boogie at The Cove
on the Waterfront
Don’t miss the great experience
of dining at Port Canaveral! Our
restaurants offer a range of fare
from finger foods to full-course
dinners. If you’re in the mood for
seafood, where could the day’s catch
be fresher than within yards of the
dock If you’re not in the seafood
mood, how about a great grilled
steak, smoked pork ribs, fettuccine
alfredo, fried gator bites, or a big
piece of bourbon pecan pie
It’s all here.
12 Port Canaveral CRUISE Guide
The Cove is a harbor-side recreation
area, where you can enjoy a stroll
with a water view and a variety of
restaurants, lounges and shops. Several
fishing charter boats sail from here.
Many restaurants in The Cove have
outdoor waterside dining areas and
tiki bars, great locations for watching
the cruise ships glide by regally or just
taking pleasure in an onshore breeze.
When the sun goes down, the fun
doesn’t end. It gets livelier...with DJs,
live bands, dancing and karaoke. Feel
free to explore. There’s amazing variety
within easy walking distance.
In addition, the Port Canaveral
Association, an organization of Port
businesses, hosts several major events
during the year. For more information,
