Guiding Principles
for Anthroposophic Psychology
at Rudolf Steiner College
May 24–26, 2013
The terms mind, soul, and self are often used
in the context of psychotherapy, yet there is
not a clear consensus to what these terms are
actually referring. Drawing upon the wealth
of spiritual scientific research we will explicate
these terms and enrich the imagination with
living concepts accessible to the layperson and
professional. This year’s conference will focus
on psychotherapeutic processes congruent
with the basic principles of an anthroposophic
psychology. The presentations and participant
explorations will be facilitated in a way that
will have value for the professional counselor,
anyone in the helping profession, and for all
those who seek to enhance their own
self-development practices.
Conversations aimed at awakening a deeper
layer of consciousness, facilitating a healing
or a transformational process may not only be
regarded as an art, but also as an extension
of a spiritual science with pastoral objectives.
Such has been the approach arising out of
esoteric wisdom traditions. In an emerging
anthroposophic psychology this approach
is continued and augmented by the best
practices of transpersonal psychology.
Whole Soul conversations with regard
to navigating the various levels of soul
consciousness, the neurological mysteries
inherent to healing stories, as well as the
transcendent dimensions of in-spirited
dialogue will all be addressed throughout the
conference. Activities will lead the participants
into a somatic and reflexive experience of the
principles brought by the presenters.

7:30–9:00 pm: Navigating the Psychotherapeutic Process of Whole Soul Conversations
(William Bento)
Healing dialogues are the trade stock of the psychotherapeutic profession. Discovering the
language of the soul and articulating its magical powers through living words will be
explored in this talk.

9:00–10:30 am: Open forum (facilitated by David Tresemer)

11:00 am–12:30 pm: Healing Force of Stories (Dennis Klocek)
The human being is organized neurologically to respond to stories as healing forces. Young
children learn how to make sense out of the seemingly random events of sense experience
through stories told in the family.
12:30–1:45 pm: Lunch
1:45–3:00 pm: Guided Process of Conversational Explorations (David Tresemer)
A therapist engages many kinds of dia-logos when in whole-soul conversation. A therapist
listens closely for explicit references to storylines as well as for implicit references. This process
will explore different kinds of conversational modalities with conference participants.
3:00–3:30 pm: Break
3:30–5:00 pm: Surrending the Script of Conversation—Opening Up to the Empathetic
Resonance Field of Soul Life. (William Bento and David Tresemer)
The enlivened conversation depends upon the deep interest in listening to the speech of the
soul of the other and taking one’s own cue for speaking from that livingness which is flowing
between the patient and therapist in conversation

Individuation or the task of becoming truly human requires that unconscious belief structures
from the past be re-examined in the context of current experiences.

About the Presenters
William Bento, PhD, has been an adult educator of anthroposophic subject
matters for 36 years. William is the Associate Dean and Accreditation Liaison
Officer at Rudolf Steiner College. He is a licensed clinical psychologist with an
office at the Center for Living Health. William is acknowledged as a pioneer in
the field of Astrosophy (Star Wisdom) and Psychosophy (Soul Wisdom). Recent
publications include: Lifting the Veil of Mental Illness: A Somatic Psychodiagnostic
Approach to Personality; and Holy Nights Journal 2011-2012. He is editor of and a
contributor to Journal for Star Wisdom 2012.
Dennis Klocek, MFA, is an artist, scientist, teacher, researcher, gardener, and
alchemist. Dennis is the Director of the Consciousness Studies Program at Rudolf
Steiner College. He is the founder of Coros Institute, dedicated to dialogue
between individuals in the sciences, arts, and business, with a commitment to
spiritual values arising from the contemplative life; he is also the founder of
ClimaTrends. He is an acclaimed international lecturer, and author of several books
including his most recent, Climate: Soul of the Earth.
David Tresemer, PhD, In 1990, he co-founded the StarHouse in Boulder, Colorado,
for community gatherings and workshops www.TheStarHouse.org and co-founded,
with his wife Lila, the Healing Dreams Retreat Centre in Australia. He has also
founded the Star Wisdom website www.StarWisdom.org, which offers readings from
the Oracle of the Solar Cross, an oracle relating to the heavenly imprint received on
one’s day of birth. He has written on a veriety of topics, including: The Scythe Book:
Mowing Hay, Cutting Weeds, and Harvesting Small Grains with Hand Tools; War in
Heaven: Accessing Myth through Drama. With his wife, he also co-authored several
plays produced in the U.S., including My Magdalene (winner of Moondance 2004,
Best Script). He co-authored Signs in the Heavens: A Message for our Time, and
co-authored Star Wisdom and Rudolf Steiner: A Life Seen through the Oracle of the
Solar Cross. David’s recent book is The Venus Eclipse of the Sun 2012.
