Concept Drawing of The Admirals’ Galley at Gulfport High School – Shaw Design Group, PA, Architects

The Admirals’ Galley Project is a comprehensive culinary academy envisioned for high school students and
located on the campus of Gulfport High School in Gulfport, MS. This multi-dimensional teaching tool will enable
students of all ability levels to learn essential skill sets for gainful employment in the restaurant/tourism industry upon
completing their necessary requirements. Students will be taught all aspects of the restaurant industry through handson
instruction by faculty, professional chefs, restaurateurs, guests lecturers, and potential employers from throughout
the local area.
Current operations are in a small concession area on the campus of Gulfport High. Services performed by students
include preparing and delivering smoothies, fresh baked cookies, hot chocolate, coffees, and teas for faculty members.
Future operations will be housed in the proposed two-story facility pictured on the front of this postcard. This new
facility will include (4) four businesses: (1) a culinary arts teaching facility with full-service restaurant, (2) an internet
café, (3) a school retail store, and (4) a greenhouse with herb garden. The Restaurant Tourism Academy and Business
Computer Technology Classes are slated to oversee all the businesses. The Admirals’ Galley will be the first project of
its kind located on a high school campus in the deep south.
