224 In this section a simple model of cardiovascular-respiratory interaction in humans is presented. The data analyzed, ECG, BP and respiratory signals, have these features: 1. The physiological signals have different forms (respiration is a narrow-band signal, while BP and ECG can be reduced to spike pulse trains); 2. The characteristic time scales of the signals are different (there are always several heart beats or BP cycles per respiratory cycle) and vary within each data recording period. 3. Oscillation coupling is probably related to modulation of the HR and BP by respiration. From table 5.4 one cannot give much insight to what is happening until this table is compared to a similar table obtained from the COPD model in section 5.5
