The Monthly Publication of GPLA
Volume 55 Issue 2 February, 2009
Presidential Viewpoint
Dear Members,
We had a good turnout for last month’s meeting despite
the not-so-pleasant weather that was predicted. A plan is now
in place for any meeting cancellations due to bad weather. An
announcement will be put on the website (www.gpla.org) by
3:00PM on the meeting day. KYW news radio, 1060AM, will
also be notified for them to announce.
Anthony Mastroianni of Kwikset provided those in
attendance with a new Smart Key dead lock. The program this
month will be presented by Tony Sagesse of Master Lock
Company, so come out and see what they have to offer in their
residential hardware line. Tony will also be available to answer
any questions you may have regarding the entire Master Lock
line.
The membership rosters are being reprinted to correct a
few omissions, so make sure you pick up a copy. Also see Vice
President Jim Sundstrond for your membership card if you
didn’t get one at the last meeting.
Our Education Chairman Al Schulke has worked with the
ILA Delaware Valley Chapter to provide CEU credits for NJ
Locksmith License requirements. Additional CEU classes are
being set up for 3/21, 3/28, 4/4, and into May. Stay tuned for
more details on the topics and times as they become available.
As those in attendance at the January meeting know,
Cliff Shafer has stepped forward and volunteered to fill the
vacant Recording Secretary position after Bill Neff’s
resignation. Many thanks go to Cliff for his continued service to
the association. Mark Ingels has been selected to fill the
vacancy on the board. Later this year will be the elections of
new officers and directors. Please think about serving the
association in a board or office position. There is a lot to be
gained from the experience. Also keep the various committees
in mind if you would like to volunteer as well. Hope to see you
at the next meeting.
Respectfully,
Ed Fitzgerald, CML

Announcements
In the event of the cancellation of any membership meeting due to inclement weather or hazardous driving conditions,
a notification will be posted on the front page of the GPLA website – www.gpla.org – by 3:00 PM of the meeting day.
We will also try to have it announced on KYW radio and send an email to everyone we have an email address for. If
your email address is not listed in the current Membership List, it means we don’t have one on file for you.
The 2009 membership list and membership cards are currently available, but can only be obtained by attending a
membership meeting. Please review your listing for accuracy and contact Martin Arnold about any errors or
omissions. Information contained within the roster reflects the information we have on file and is obtained from the
member data forms included with your dues notices.
Intertek has announced that they are offering their 'Perfect Raceway' class in Wilmington, DE. If you have an interest
in attending one of these sessions, you are encouraged to contact Garrett Tom. Garrett is in charge of scheduling all
classes, and his e-mail address is: garrett@productcc.com. The next class will be offered March 3, 2009 from 8am -
noon in Wilmington, DE at Ingersoll Rand Security Technology. More details regarding registration can be found at
the website: www.whmark.com/raceway .
Members who have been issued an individual NJ locksmith license are reminded that their license will be up for
the 3 year renewal this August. You are required to have 36 CEU’s to apply for the renewal. GPLA will be
offering NJ Locksmith Licensing Board approved CEU courses in the upcoming months, but class sizes are usually
limited, so be sure and register early. The classes scheduled for our 2009 convention will be too late to qualify for
the upcoming renewal, but can be used towards the 2012 renewal.
