warrior
Warrior Carp line is formulated and extruded to Fox’s
stringent specification. This creates a line that is
consistent, durable and has an excellent wet knot
strength; features and qualities normally associated with
premium priced monofilaments. Warrior is extremely
tough, hard wearing, yet limp and manageable.
Incorporating a wet knot strength that is consistently
strong and reliable when tied correctly with grinner or
palomar knots, each of the line classes will provide a knot
strength very close to that printed on the spool. Available
in a choice of two colours, low viz platinum grey or dark
camo green, there are three breaking strains 10lb, 12lb
and 15lbs.
CML001 10lb/4.53kg 0.33mm Platinum £6.99
warrior®
& barbuster®
Like all Fox monofilaments, Warrior and
Barbuster have consistent diameters
throughout their length and
exceptional wet knot strength. Barbuster
has already established itself as a favourite
with anglers who fish snaggy waters due to
its high abrasion resistance. Warrior has a
similar high specification, but is priced ultra
competitively. The Fox range
of monofilaments is probably the most
comprehensive available, with something
to suit every angler.
barbuster
Barbuster has been developed utilising similar technology to Soft
Steel and has undergone the same rigorous field testing. It has
been developed with the focus on providing superior abrasion
resistance. It still retains the key characteristics of exceptional
wet knot strength and consistent diameter needed to make a
great carp line. It has few equals when fishing in snaggy and
weedy waters for large carp. Available in three breaking strains.
When Soft Steel was launched over a
decade ago, it quickly established itself as
the line of choice for many carp anglers.
Having experienced huge success with the
Specialist Carp Line, two further Soft
Steel items followed, Specialist Mono and
Tapered Mono leaders.
We’ve taken Soft Steel one step further,
and added a camouflage effect. This exciting
feature uses modern technology to
change the colour of the monofilament
every 15 to 20cm which breaks up the
outline; a major advantage in clear water
conditions. Whilst the focus and individual
characteristics vary between all Soft
Steel items, independent laboratory tests
reveal them all to be extremely strong,
supple and lose very little strength when
wet or knotted.
soft steel camo
Camo Soft Steel uses advanced dyeing technology
to create a ‘camo’ pattern with five different tonal
colours that alternate every 15-20cms. This breaks
up the shape and appearance of the line helping it
to blend in and disappear, whatever the surroundings.
A definite edge when in the pursuit of carp in
clear waters.
soft steel carp line
Displaying high abrasion resistance coupled with
superb suppleness, Soft Steel is a line that has
passed every conceivable test with flying colours.
Despite its abrasion resistance, the line is
remarkably limp and resists line twist very well. The
neutral brown colour of this excellent mono is the
finishing touch on what many leading carp anglers
consider to be the ultimate carp mono.
Max Cottis
I was instrumental in the
development of Soft Steel.
I wanted a soft, supple,
memory free monofilament as
these properties ensure
smooth effortless casting
which adds vital yards. Any
line must have excellent knot
strength (I’ve yet to be shown
a way of fishing without one),
but many of the lines we
tested performed admirably on
a straight line pull, but as
soon as a knot was added,
the breaking strain would fall
by as much as 50%. Unlike
some lines, the breaking strain
stated on a spool of Soft
Steel is based on a well tied
grinner or palomar knot, not a
straight line pull. For such a
soft line, Soft Steel has
excellent abrasion resistance
and the neutral colour makes
it suitable for most types of
fishing including weed, snags
and even clear water.
The formulation of the new
camouflage Soft Steel is
identical to the original, but
the constantly changing
colouration breaks up the
outline of the monofilament
against the bottom. On hard
fished waters where the fish
have become extremely
cautious, the use of Camo
Soft Steel in conjunction with
a 450mm length of leadcore
leader is one of the most
effective ways of disguising
the tackle above the lead.
mainline & leaders
Braided mainlines have
become a popular choice
for specialist anglers.
As well as offering a low
diameter compared to
the equivalent breaking
strain of monofilament,
braids offer increased
sensitivity and longer
casting potential. Fox
offer a choice of two
braided mainlines:
Gravitron for general
all-round work and
Submerge Plus, which
incorporates a newly
developed super
heavy fibre. For 2007,
there are two new
specialist braids a Spod
and Marker version and a
Floater fishing braid.
controller floater braid
Controller Floater Braid genuinely improves
surface fishing results by providing direct
control of the float and giving lightening fast
reaction when required. The supple braid
floats perfectly and is coloured to resemble
surface weed. With a knotted breaking
strain of 12lb and a low diameter to maximise
casting distance, Controller Braid is
constructed using 100% Dyneema and features
a hard wearing woven structure for
superb strength and abrasion resistance.
tb spod braid
TB Spod Braid has been developed for heavy
duty bait rocket and spod work.
Incorporating ultra-strong, bonded Dyneema
filaments with a breaking strain of over
30lbs, TB Spod Braid is incredibly tough and
hard wearing and can be used without a
shock leader for all but the heaviest spods.
A tight weave and low diameter allows
smooth, extreme range casting with minimal
wind knots and tangles. Buoyant fluorescent
yellow filaments ensure the braid is visible in
all conditions - this can prove invaluable
when positioning rods around the spodded
area, preventing tangles and crossovers.
illusion ® shockleader
Illusion is extruded from a hard wearing,
pure fluorocarbon formula. Illusion is 78%
denser than water and doesn’t absorb
water, so it retains 100% knot strength.
When used as a hooklink, being virtual
invisibile in water and with a fairly stiff
memory, Illusion is ideal for anti-eject and
stiff rigs. The combination of toughness,
invisibility and reduced stretch makes
Illusion ideal for leaders and in clear water
this is a great way of camouflaging the end
tackle and keeping it close to the lake bed.
