7 Spray Seals This section of the specification details the requirements for supply, spraying, spreading and rolling of bituminous spray seal surfacing. The bitumen binder class shall be as detailed in the nominal spray seal design. The Contractor shall not vary the class of bitumen unless otherwise approved in writing by the Superintendent. Multigrade bitumen shall comply with the Austroads Provisional Specification for Multigrade Binders. 7.2.2 Polymer Modified Binders Polymer modified binder shall comply with the Austroads Specification Framework for Polymer Modified Binders. 7.2.3 Bitumen Emulsion Bitumen Emulsion shall comply with the requirements of AS 1160. 7.2.4 Cutback Bitumen Cutback bitumen shall comply with AS 2157 or may be prepared by the Contractor, in the field, by blending bitumen and cutter oil in proportions specified or selected as appropriate to the particular Ref No. 20120236SA1 Kingscote Streets Upgrades Technical Specification 30
