Her Fingers<br />

Her hands<br />
weave threads<br />
around the loosened<br />
edges of a basket<br />
her fingers<br />
are deft<br />
as they grasp<br />
the string<br />
slipping it through<br />
the woven twigs<br />
and knotting the twine<br />
to retrain them<br />
She kneels on a<br />
patterned rug<br />
in her living<br />
room<br />
sun streams in<br />
through the brilliant<br />
yellow leaves<br />
of fall<br />
and joy<br />
comes<br />
with the sun<br />
Looking down<br />
at her fingers<br />
in their industry<br />
she is overcome<br />
with<br />
thankfulness<br />
for her hands<br />
