Landscape Management Internship<br />

The <strong>Milwaukee</strong> <strong>Brewers</strong> have openings for Two Landscape Management Interns. Positions<br />

are seasonal fulltime from March through November 2013 with a 3-month minimum duration.<br />

Internships are paid hourly positions. Evening, weekends, and holiday hours may be required.<br />

Opened in 2001 Miller Park is a $400-million stadium located in <strong>Milwaukee</strong>’s Menomonee<br />

River Valley. The 260 acres that make up Miller Park contains a diverse array <strong>of</strong> landscapes.<br />

From the manicured landscape that surrounds the stadium to the large natural areas provided<br />

by the Menomonee River and Hank Aaron State Trail. Each area <strong>of</strong> Miller Park poses a unique<br />

land management challenge that Interns will have the opportunity to independently manage.<br />

Landscape Management Intern will be expected to demonstrate competency in the following<br />

duties: Plant Identification, Landscape Design, Landscape Installation, Integrated Pest<br />

Management Planning, Seasonal Landscape Maintenance, Sustainable Systems, Irrigation<br />

Maintenance, Application <strong>of</strong> Fertilizer and Herbicides. Landscape Management Interns will be<br />

given the opportunity to independently plan and manage projects. Successful candidates will<br />

also gain experience by independently managing and supervising crew members. Additional<br />

educational opportunities will include Industry Seminars and Conferences, as well as guided<br />

tours <strong>of</strong> the WI State and County Park Systems.<br />

Successful applicants should have a valid Driver’s License, excellent work ethic, currently<br />

enrolled in or recently graduated from a Landscape Management, Ornamental <strong>Horticulture</strong> or<br />

related college program. Priority deadline for applications is January 18, 2013. Applications<br />

will be accepted until all positions are filled.<br />

Summary:<br />

Landscape Management Interns will be responsible for assisting with overall Maintenance and Care <strong>of</strong> the 260 acre<br />

Landscape surrounding Miller Park and Helfaer Youth <strong>Baseball</strong> Facility. Successful candidates will have the opportunity<br />

to gain additional experience by independently managing the development <strong>of</strong> projects and supervising crew members.<br />

Positions are seasonal fulltime from March 2013 through November 2013 with a 3-month minimum duration.<br />

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:<br />

• Working knowledge <strong>of</strong> Plant Identification.<br />

• Experience with Landscape Design and Installation.<br />

• Assist in all Seasonal Landscape Maintenance.<br />

• Irrigation System Maintenance and Management.<br />

• Ability to work Independently and in Large Groups.<br />

• Effectively lead an independent Landscape Crew.<br />

• Safely Operate all Equipment and Machinery.<br />

Qualifications/Education Required:<br />

• Prior Landscape Maintenance experience is preferred.<br />

• Candidates must be currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Landscape Management,<br />

<strong>Horticulture</strong>, or related college program at an accredited college or university.<br />

• Candidates must have a valid driver’s license.<br />

• Candidates must be able to perform physical tasks, with or without accommodation such as lifting and carrying<br />

up to 50 pounds.<br />

Other Qualifications:<br />

Candidate must be available from Mid-May until August 2013; preference will be given to those available for the entire<br />

MLB season. Required to work extended hours such as nights, weekends and holidays.<br />
