Furthermore, in <strong>2012</strong> we began to develop an Environmental Management System (EMS) which<br />
will enable us to identify, capture, measure and monitor key environmental indicators at the<br />
GFNorte level and which will be implemented in 2013.<br />
Por otra parte, durante <strong>2012</strong> se llevó a cabo el desarrollo de un Sistema de Gestión Ambiental<br />
(EMS por sus siglas en inglés) que nos permitirá identificar, capturar, medir y monitorear indicadores<br />
ambientales clave a nivel GFNorte y cuya implementación se realizará en 2013.<br />
Paperless Program<br />
Paperless Champions are the green team that promotes and manages internal projects to<br />
reduce the use of paper and toner at offices and branches. It constitutes an essential first step<br />
towards meeting recycling objectives and lower paper consumption.<br />
Savings on the use of paper for the first phase in<br />
<strong>2012</strong> were 37% compared to 19% in 2011.<br />
In order to closely follow up each stage of the program the team was divided into 2, one<br />
comprising the representatives of Staff areas (phase 1) and the other representatives of the<br />
bank (branch) corresponding to phase 2. These teams met periodically to foster better practices<br />
that in <strong>2012</strong> enabled them to make 37% progress with the goal of reducing paper consumption<br />
by 50% vs. 2010 in phase 1.<br />
In order to facilitate follow-up, the new figure of Champion Jr. was introduced at branches, its<br />
profile being that of an executive involved in internal processes as well as members of areas<br />
located in different buildings and/or cities.<br />
As a result of the recent implementation of software that monitors employee printouts, in 2013<br />
each Champion will be able to identify processes that consume relatively more paper allowing<br />
Champions to bring focus to new paper reduction initiatives. Likewise, a communication tool<br />
will be released (business social network) that is exclusive to the program so Champions can<br />
interact and share ideas and good practices and work as a team.<br />
Furthermore, the recycling program will be extended to more corporate buildings, which already<br />
began in February 2013 with the incorporation of the Banorte Contact Center.<br />
