<strong>Annual</strong> <strong>Report</strong> <strong>2012</strong><br />
Likewise, in July <strong>2012</strong>, the Group participated as a host, “Aquí<br />
Estoy” (Here I Am) at the summer camp organized by the<br />
same institution in Monterrey. The workshop was attended by<br />
young people and adults with an intellectual and/or motor<br />
disability, and throughout the four days that it lasted, Banorte-<strong>Ixe</strong><br />
volunteers used simple and fun ways to explain to participants<br />
the importance of saving and how easy it is to make it a habit.<br />
With the participation of 11<br />
Banorte-<strong>Ixe</strong> volunteers, 345<br />
people benefited directly,<br />
and more than 1,300<br />
people indirectly.<br />
Financial Education Week<br />
In <strong>2012</strong>, Banorte-<strong>Ixe</strong> joined forces with CONDUSEF, SHCP and<br />
ABM in the National Financial Education Week from October<br />
1 st to 7 th .<br />
The week included “Chats with the Experts”, a forum in which 3<br />
company directors gave presentations about: Credit, Retirement<br />
Savings and Investments, which were broadcast nationally<br />
through BanorTV. Their speeches were rebroadcast on different<br />
days and at different times to the whole of the Banorte-<strong>Ixe</strong><br />
community so more people could listen to them and Human<br />
Resources published the presentation materials on its Intranet<br />
for employees to review.<br />
Thanks to the generosity of the Banorte-<strong>Ixe</strong> family, in <strong>2012</strong> we<br />
supported 9 institutions through in-kind donations (construction,<br />
equipment, renovation, etc.) for a total of Ps. 1,603,994.46, and<br />
Fundación Banorte donated Ps. 500,000 in cash.<br />
Red SumaRSE Nuevo León <strong>2012</strong><br />
To reinforce the commitment with community development that<br />
characterizes Banorte, and as mentioned in our 2011 <strong>Report</strong>,<br />
in February 2011, Fundación Banorte signed a cooperation<br />
agreement with Red SumaRSE made up of Monterrey-area<br />
foundations and companies with the aim of rebuilding the social<br />
fabric of communities in the state of Nuevo León affected by the<br />
natural disaster “Alex” (La Ermita in Santa Catarina, El Realito in<br />
Guadalupe and Capellanía in García in Nuevo León, México).<br />
In February <strong>2012</strong>, the first activities report was published<br />
which mentioned the methodology that will contribute to the<br />
reconstruction of the social fabric and the generation of civic<br />
capacity as a as part of the continued growth of this initiative.<br />
The second stage, to be developed in 2013, will consist of<br />
implementing actions to strengthen the following components:<br />
Resilience, Civic Skills, Social Cohesion and Collective Action,<br />
all of which have a bearing on the initiative’s objective.<br />
Súmate Trust<br />
Súmate is a trust comprised of donations from Grupo Financiero<br />
Banorte employees who voluntarily contribute a percentage of<br />
the salary they receive every two weeks to social causes. This is<br />
supplemented by a cash donation from Fundación Banorte to<br />
causes chosen by the Selection Committee, which is composed<br />
of GFNorte volunteers, and which contributes its expertise to<br />
the operation of the program.<br />
