Every Monday except Bank Holidays<br />

and every first Sunday of the month.<br />

We need your enthusiasm <strong>to</strong> help us protect<br />

this fasc<strong>in</strong>at<strong>in</strong>g 700 acre remnant of<br />

ancient Sherwood Forest. Volunteer<strong>in</strong>g is a<br />

great chance <strong>to</strong> learn new skills and make<br />

friends whilst mak<strong>in</strong>g a real difference <strong>to</strong><br />

the environment. Everyone is welcome (no<br />

previous experience necessary) with <strong>to</strong>ols,<br />

tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g and tea all provided! Please br<strong>in</strong>g a<br />

Come and visit this unique his<strong>to</strong>ric<br />

monument, a tribute <strong>to</strong> the workers who<br />

put the Great <strong>in</strong><strong>to</strong> Brita<strong>in</strong> and fuelled the<br />

fires of the Industrial Revolution. The last<br />

rema<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g part of <strong>Bestwood</strong> Colliery, it once<br />

transported colliers <strong>do</strong>wn <strong>in</strong><strong>to</strong> the m<strong>in</strong>e, and<br />

w<strong>in</strong>ched coal up <strong>to</strong> the surface.<br />

The build<strong>in</strong>g and its mighty eng<strong>in</strong>e have<br />

been res<strong>to</strong>red by Nott<strong>in</strong>ghamshire County<br />

Council with the help of a Heritage Lottery<br />

Grant. Ride the glass sided lift and view the<br />

<strong>in</strong>terior, or talk <strong>to</strong> the W<strong>in</strong>d<strong>in</strong>g Eng<strong>in</strong>e House<br />

volunteers, who look after this fasc<strong>in</strong>at<strong>in</strong>g<br />

piece of Nott<strong>in</strong>ghamshire’s heritage.<br />

Green Woodwork<strong>in</strong>g Course<br />

This one day practical event reviv<strong>in</strong>g traditional<br />

skills will teach you how <strong>to</strong> split, shave and turn<br />

items from greenwood us<strong>in</strong>g simple <strong>to</strong>ols. Use<br />

both a pole lathe and shave horse <strong>to</strong> fashion a<br />

Goddess Camp<br />

Help us <strong>to</strong> celebrate the earth, appreciate our<br />

connection <strong>to</strong> it and explore what we can <strong>do</strong><br />

<strong>to</strong> protect our environment. Over the weekend<br />

there will be a variety of enterta<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g workshops<br />

that may <strong>in</strong>clude belly danc<strong>in</strong>g, arts and crafts,<br />

tree walks, Reiki, <strong>in</strong>troduction <strong>to</strong> the goddess<br />

path and much, much more. The camp is open<br />

<strong>to</strong> men, women and children, but advanced<br />

book<strong>in</strong>g is essential. The charge for this event<br />
