The meeting was called to order at 7:03 PM.<br />

The minutes from the October meeting were reviewed. The following changes should be<br />

noted:<br />

o A correction should be noted in the Athletics Director's report that Karissa<br />

Burdi was the girls’ golfer that qualified for the state competition.<br />

o A correction should be noted under new business that the coaches fund<br />

raisers will be used to fund the irrigation system on the football, soccer, and<br />

the baseball fields.<br />

A motion to accept the minutes were made by; Joe Paladino seconded by Tony Vechiola,<br />

and was passed unanimously.<br />

President’s Report – Len Hardy<br />

<br />

Len reported that South Elgin high school has presented a plaque to the BHS <strong>Booster</strong> <strong>Club</strong><br />

showing their appreciation for the contribution that was made to their booster club. This will<br />

be displayed in the trophy case.<br />

Len reported that the concession stand from a girls volleyball meet needed to be cleaned up.<br />

He will follow up with this club on this issue.<br />

Len discussed the key situation for the concession stand. The custodian will open up the<br />

concession stand. Keys to the locks on the cabinets will be issued to wrestling & basketball.<br />

Len reported that the Football booster club has elected new officers. They are as follows:<br />

Note: Joe Merchut will stay on as treasure until a replacement is found.<br />

Athletic Director’s Report – Dan Kallenbach<br />

Dan reported that we are currently in a transition phase between fall & winter activities.<br />

There are open coaches’ positions in Golf & Boys soccer. The plans are that these would be<br />

filled by the end of the year. These positions have been posted.<br />

Dan provided an updated on the sprinkler systems for the fields. We are currently looking for<br />

another firm to provide a quote/proposal on completing this, due to issues with the original<br />

firm.<br />

The district has plans to re-seed the fields. The district is looking for a new Head of Grounds.<br />

The interim head of grounds is reviewing these plans.<br />

There are plans to redo the track. This was discussed by districts council / Principals<br />

Advisory board. This will be replaced after P.E. is over in the spring.<br />

Treasurer’s Report – Shelley Rosas<br />

The Individual & Summary clubs reports were available to the clubs.<br />

Shelley reminded the groups that receipts are needed to reconcile check requests.<br />

Radio broadcasts are about to begin for the upcoming basketball season. As a<br />

reminder, we will be happy to announce any of the clubs activities on the radio.<br />

Please e-mail these to Joe.<br />

Football – Tony Vechiola<br />

Tony introduced the new president Ron Herbert.<br />

Tony reported that attendance was down for the 1 st round of the playoffs. Dan<br />

reported that attendance was down across the entire state.<br />

Softball – Bobbi Kraklio<br />

<br />

Bobbi made a motion that softball would like to spend $1,290.55 on a pitching<br />

machine, balls, and other equipment. Tony Vechiola seconded the motion and it was<br />

unanimously approved.<br />

Cheerleading – Tami Mercandte (Proxy)<br />

<br />

Tami made a motion that cheerleading would like to spend $1,000 on a Christmas<br />

party, on 12/5 or 12/6, at Viallagios, for the cheerleaders & the coach. Joe Paladino<br />

seconded the motion and it was unanimously approved.<br />

Wrestling – Joe Paladino<br />

Joe stated the wrestling kick-off dinner will be held on 11/17 and the booster club<br />

executive board is invited to attend.<br />

There are 2 new coaches Mark Hattendorf & Patrick Murphy.<br />

The first home meet will be a quad on 12/3.<br />

Coach Cody will be talking to the Dance team to have them perform at one of the<br />

meets.<br />

Dance – Diane Kaufman (Proxy)<br />

Diane made a motion that dance would like to spend $1,600 on a winter formal, to be<br />

held on 1/20; it will be a Black & White affair. Dan Palmer seconded the motion and it<br />

was unanimously approved.<br />

Diane asked if the UDA state team picture can be posted in the hall of fame. Joe said<br />

he would work with Diane on this. Joe also stated that the dance banner along with<br />

the golf, cross country, and tennis banners will be hung up too.<br />

Fine Arts – Bridget Billings<br />

Bridget stated that the craft fair went very well.<br />

Bridget reported on upcoming orchestra, band, and chorus concerts.<br />

The fall play was a success as each performance was sold out.<br />

Rick will be working on the lighting situation in the auditorium.<br />

Bridget made a motion that fine arts would like to have a check request for $900 for 6<br />

teachers for supplies & materials. Joe Paladino seconded the motion and it was<br />

unanimously approved.<br />

Bridget reported that the clubs can sell pies & cookie dough that are purchased from<br />

Market Day. These are good fund raiser activities.<br />

Basketball – Chris Baird<br />

Old Business<br />

Chris reported that the new uniforms were $3,674 and they have arrived.<br />

Chris reported that the girls varsity team will be traveling to Notre Dame<br />

Chris reported that Annie's will donate $1 for each 3 point shot.<br />

Chris made a motion that basketball would like to hold a raffle for 2 round trip tickets<br />

from Chicago to London. These were donated by British Airways. The raffle tickets<br />

will be sold for $10 each, with a total of 800 tickets being sold. There will also be<br />

other prizes associated with the raffle. Tony Vechiola seconded the motion and it was<br />

unanimously approved.<br />

Chris stated the basketball tip-off dinner will be held on 11/14 and the booster club<br />

executive board is invited to attend<br />

None.<br />

New Business<br />

Augustino's Deli made a presentation on the food that they can provide to any group<br />

that runs the concession stand.<br />

Len discussed the current pizza provider situation. Len suggested that an RFP<br />

process be prepared for all vendors interested in providing this service to the booster<br />

club. Len indicated that we will be staying with the current provider, Pasta Mia, for<br />

winter sports, Wrestling & Basketball, and the spring sports, Boys Volleyball, Soccer,<br />

and Track.<br />

Joe Paladino motioned to adjourn the meeting. The motioned was seconded by Tami<br />

Mercadante and was approved unanimously. The meeting was adjourned at 7:45 PM.<br />
