Chemical assay
Contains not less than 3.3% essential oil (v/w) (5–8).
Major chemical constituents
Contains 2–8% essential oil, the major constituents of which are 1,8-cineole
(20–40%), (+)--terpinyl acetate (30–42%), -terpineol (4–45%),
limonene (6%), and smaller amounts of linalool and linalool acetate,
among others (13, 20–22). The structures of 1,8-cineole, (+)--terpinyl
acetate and -terpineol are presented below.
