Chemical assays<br />
Not less than 0.5% isoflav<strong>on</strong>es, calculated <strong>on</strong> the dried basis as the sum of<br />
daidzein, genistein, form<strong>on</strong><strong>on</strong>etin and biochanin A (1).<br />

Rich in isoflav<strong>on</strong>oids. The major active estrogenic isoflav<strong>on</strong>oids are biochanin<br />

Although numerous clinical trials have assessed the safety and efficacy of<br />
red clover extracts for the treatment of menopausal symptoms, hyperlipidaemia,<br />
osteoporosis and prostate cancer (15–19), the data are as yet insufficient<br />
to support any of these indicati<strong>on</strong>s. Further data from wellc<strong>on</strong>trolled<br />
clinical trials with sufficient numbers of subjects are needed<br />
before any therapeutic indicati<strong>on</strong>s can be made.<br />
