Major chemical c<strong>on</strong>stituents<br />
The major c<strong>on</strong>stituents of the f<strong>ru</strong>it are steroidal sap<strong>on</strong>ins including git<strong>on</strong>in,<br />
protodioscin (0.245%, tribulosap<strong>on</strong>ins A and B, tribulosin and terrestrosins<br />
A–K, am<strong>on</strong>g others. Other c<strong>on</strong>stituents include alkaloids, tribulusamides<br />
A and B, and trace amounts of harman and norharman; and flav<strong>on</strong>ols such<br />
as kaempferol, quercetin and <strong>ru</strong>tin (5, 14, 15). The st<strong>ru</strong>ctures of the major<br />
