Oleum Ricini<br />

Pregnancy: n<strong>on</strong>-teratogenic effects<br />
Oleum Ricini as a laxative is c<strong>on</strong>traindicated in pregnancy before 40 weeks<br />
of gestati<strong>on</strong>, due to potential inducti<strong>on</strong> of labour.<br />
Nursing mothers<br />
Oleum Ricini is c<strong>on</strong>traindicated in breastfeeding mothers. Ricinoleic acid<br />
is absorbed into the bloodstream and is excreted into human breast milk.<br />
In suckling infants it has a purgative effect (13).<br />

34). Topical use: fixed oil (5).<br />
