8. Welcome/Introductions
Mary Pierce welcomed all participants, those who participated in the initial Focus Group and those
new to the process, and invited all to briefly introduce themselves. All Program Advisory Committee
members received minutes from the External Focus Group. Mary noted that the meeting for Digital
Marketing was the last of eight panels for the proposed Bachelor of Commerce degrees and that as a
result of the earlier meetings, the Digital Marketing proposal had been modified to reflect industry
input.
9. Process Overview
Ross Gowan briefly reviewed Fanshawe College’s new program development process. At this stage
in the process, the External Focus Group has been renamed the Program Advisory Committee. The
goal of this second meeting of industry representatives is to achieve consensus on several key
decisions and then move forward with a proposal to the Ministry of Training, Colleges and
Universities. The focus of the meeting will be 1) the name of the program and its focus, 2) vocational
learning outcomes, 3) courses, and 4) co-op. At the end of the night, we will ask for motion to
proceed with the program on the basis of the recommendations of the Program Advisory Committee.
Sherry McEvoy reviewed key recommendations from the External Focus Group and indicated where
in the proposed curriculum the recommendations would be addressed:
