In addition to general interest in providing co‐op opportunities, Employers were specifically asked<br />

whether they would provide paid co‐op employment for students in their final year <strong>of</strong> their four‐year<br />

program.<br />

Close to half <strong>of</strong> employers (n=26) indicated that they would definitely provide paid co‐op placements.<br />

Another 15 Employers expressed a possible interest (n=11) or were unsure (n=4). Among Employers<br />

who agreed to take co‐op students, interest was particularly strong in <strong>Marketing</strong> placements, but<br />

Employers were receptive to participating as co‐op hosts across all four areas <strong>of</strong> business concentration<br />

(Table 25).<br />

Given concerns about the potential for the proposed HR degree specialization to impact Fanshawe<br />

College’s existing HR mentorship program by providing opportunities for employers to hire HR co‐op<br />

students, Employers currently participating as HR mentors were asked if they would be willing to<br />

continue participating in the mentorship program. Of the 11 employers who were currently assisting<br />

students as HR mentors, only one indicated that he/she would no longer be interested in being an HR<br />

mentor.<br />
