Appeal <strong>of</strong> <strong>Marketing</strong> Degree Based on Description and Interest in Specializations<br />

Among <strong>Marketing</strong> Students, the ability to apply with advanced standing into a degree program and the<br />

flexibility <strong>of</strong> education paths (2‐, 3‐ or 4‐year programs) had great appeal, as did the possible career<br />

paths including market analyst, digital marketing specialist, product manager, distribution manager,<br />

sales pr<strong>of</strong>essional, communications manager, marketing manager, Internet marketer, web developer,<br />

content manager, online support, or be self‐employed. Pr<strong>of</strong>essional accreditation and the focus <strong>of</strong> the<br />

degree on digital marketing and qualification in Google AdWords and Analytics also had strong appeal.<br />

The <strong>Marketing</strong> Entrepreneurship specialization (76%) holds the greatest appeal among <strong>Marketing</strong><br />

Students, followed by <strong>Marketing</strong> and IT (64%). Fewer selected digital marketing (59%) and marketing<br />

analysis and research (43%).<br />

When Students were asked to rank the top reasons as first, second and third in terms <strong>of</strong> personal<br />

appeal, pr<strong>of</strong>essional accreditations and Certificate <strong>of</strong> Completion in the Fundamentals <strong>of</strong> Search<br />

<strong>Marketing</strong> from Google tied in first and second place (ranked 1st, 2nd or 3rd most <strong>of</strong>ten) at 46% and<br />

44%.<br />
