Chapter 3. Current Business Students Survey<br />

A. Introduction<br />

Objectives<br />

The primary objectives <strong>of</strong> the survey conducted among Current Business Students enrolled in the<br />

Lawrence Kinlin School <strong>of</strong> Business at Fanshawe College are to understand the following:<br />

level <strong>of</strong> interest in a business degree program and the preferred type <strong>of</strong> institution<br />

appeal <strong>of</strong> the four degree programs proposed by Lawrence Kinlin School <strong>of</strong> Business (LKSB) and<br />

the specializations falling under each area<br />

levels <strong>of</strong> satisfaction with LKSB and the program in which the student is enrolled<br />

strengths and weaknesses <strong>of</strong> LKSB<br />

levels <strong>of</strong> satisfaction with online class delivery methods and online tools and preferences for<br />

type <strong>of</strong> class delivery<br />

Methodology<br />

The study was administered online and via paper in class between April 4 and April 14, 2011 among<br />

students currently enrolled in the level 4 or level 6 <strong>of</strong> the following programs: Accounting, <strong>Marketing</strong>,<br />

Business and Human Resources. A total <strong>of</strong> 672 students were invited to participate in the survey. The<br />

overall response rate was 48%. Table 1 below outlines the number <strong>of</strong> students who completed by type<br />

and level <strong>of</strong> program.<br />

The margin <strong>of</strong> error for the overall sample <strong>of</strong> n=322 is ±3.8%, 19 times out <strong>of</strong> 20. The margin <strong>of</strong> error is<br />

larger for subgroups. An asterisk has been used throughout the report to denote small base sizes;<br />

interpret subgroups with small base sizes with caution.<br />
