Across Canada, management skills were among the seven most frequent skills shortages reported by<br />

Canadian businesses based on 2007 surveys <strong>of</strong> managers <strong>of</strong> local and provincial/territorial Chambers <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>Commerce</strong> and business members <strong>of</strong> the Canadian Chamber <strong>of</strong> <strong>Commerce</strong>, 18 primarily because <strong>of</strong> much<br />

higher than average replacement demand. The average age <strong>of</strong> workers in these occupations is higher<br />

than the all‐occupation average. 19<br />

When Employers were presented with the nine specific business management occupations and asked<br />

to indicate whether shortages currently existed and the size <strong>of</strong> that shortage, between half to almost<br />
