Across Canada, management skills were among the seven most frequent skills shortages reported by
Canadian businesses based on 2007 surveys of managers of local and provincial/territorial Chambers of
Commerce and business members of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, 18 primarily because of much
higher than average replacement demand. The average age of workers in these occupations is higher
than the all‐occupation average. 19
When Employers were presented with the nine specific business management occupations and asked
to indicate whether shortages currently existed and the size of that shortage, between half to almost
