14. Duplication<br />

Humber is currently the only college in Ontario <strong>of</strong>fering a marketing degree program, and Humber’s<br />

program specialization is e‐Business. Several universities also <strong>of</strong>fer a commerce or business<br />

administration degree with a marketing specialization, but none specialize in digital marketing.<br />

14.1 College Programs in Ontario<br />

Only Humber College currently <strong>of</strong>fers a degree program in marketing, a <strong>Bachelor</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Commerce</strong> in e‐<br />

Business <strong>Marketing</strong>. Humber’s emphasis is closer to e‐business than it is to marketing, although both<br />

areas are emphasized in the program name and curriculum. Humber is located in the Greater Toronto<br />

Area (GTA), geographically distant from the London area. Both programs will have mandatory co‐op and<br />

an applied approach in delivering the curriculum.<br />

The table below compares the curriculum between Fanshawe’s proposed <strong>Digital</strong> <strong>Marketing</strong> program and<br />

Humber’s e‐Business <strong>Marketing</strong> program. Both programs have the broad scope typical <strong>of</strong> a bachelor <strong>of</strong><br />

commerce. Fanshawe’s program has greater emphasis on marketing, and also greater emphasis on the<br />

specialized digital marketing content.<br />

14.2 University Programs in Southwestern Ontario<br />

Several universities in Ontario <strong>of</strong>fer bachelor’s degrees in commerce or business administration with a<br />

marketing major, although none have any significant content related to digital marketing. Emphasis in<br />

all these university programs is either on general (traditional) marketing or on marketing management.<br />

A couple <strong>of</strong> universities <strong>of</strong>fer single courses only with digital marketing content.<br />

The table below lists the predominant university marketing programs in Ontario.<br />
