provide locations for fun and affordable<br />

activities such as picnics, BBQs,<br />

camping, swimming, water sports<br />

and bushwalks, in serene and<br />

tranquil locations.<br />

Situated less than six hours from<br />

Sydney, with seven parks located on<br />

inland water sources and the remaining<br />

ten on the coast, state parks provide<br />

camping and caravan sites as well<br />

as bungalows and cabins, which are<br />

perfect for day trips or longer holidays<br />

Burrinjuck Waters<br />

Burrinjuck Waters is a stunning<br />

place to relax and enjoy<br />

a range of recreational<br />

activities. Only 1.5<br />

hours drive north of<br />

Canberra, the park<br />

offers the chance to get up close and personal with the<br />

native wildlife, or satisfy the thirst for adventure with a<br />

choice of water sports.<br />

Coffs Coast<br />

Coffs Coast is situated<br />

halfway between Sydney and<br />

Brisbane. The Sawtell Beach<br />

Caravan park is located on Bonville<br />

Creek and can be reached via Lyons<br />

Road or Sawtell Road. Coffs Coast <strong>State</strong><br />

<strong>Park</strong> stretches from the Bonville Headland<br />

in Sawtell through to <strong>Park</strong> Beach in Coffs<br />

Harbour.<br />

Copeton Waters<br />

Nestled in the north-east corner<br />

of NSW, Copeton Waters offers<br />

rainforest areas, extensive<br />

wetlands and seabird breeding<br />

Lake Burrendong<br />

Lake Burrendong <strong>State</strong> <strong>Park</strong> offers yearround<br />

attractions for fishing enthusiasts,<br />

nature lovers, bushwalkers, campers and<br />

picnickers. With an arboretum with native<br />

plants and animals, and a mass of subtropical<br />

vegetation and local bird life, Lake<br />

Burrendong has something for everyone.<br />

Goolawah<br />

Situated at Crescent Head<br />

on the NSW North Coast,<br />

Goolawah ensures the<br />

area’s sensitive environment<br />

is protected for future<br />

generations to enjoy. The<br />

745-hectare park features<br />

dog-friendly campgrounds, 4WD<br />

access and walking tracks along its<br />

lagoon, beaches and littoral rainforest.<br />

Lake Glenbawn<br />

Lake Glenbawn <strong>State</strong> <strong>Park</strong> in the Hunter<br />

Valley offers a diversity of bushland and<br />

wildlife. Nature lovers and bushwalkers<br />

will enjoy the woodlands, as well as<br />

water sports, fishing, picnic areas, BBQs,<br />

playgrounds, tennis and boat hire.<br />

Wyangala Waters<br />

Lake Keepit<br />

Situated in the state’s north-west,<br />

Lake Keepit is an easy half day’s<br />

drive from Sydney.<br />

The park offers fun<br />

for the whole family<br />

with BBQs, picnics and<br />

bushwalking, or water<br />

sports on the 34kms of<br />

stunning waterways.<br />

The ‘Jewel in the crown of the Central West’,<br />

Wyangala Waters is a favourite holiday destination.<br />

Relax in comfortable accommodation or<br />

on the water in a houseboat, take a<br />

bushwalk or cast<br />

a line for some<br />

fishing. An easy<br />

morning’s drive from<br />

Sydney, or a short<br />

drive from Canberra,<br />

Wyangala Dam is located at<br />

the junction of the Lachlan and<br />

Abercrombie Rivers.<br />

Manning Entrance<br />

Manning Entrance is situated on<br />

the NSW Mid North Coast and<br />

runs from Old Bar to the southern side of<br />

the Manning River. The coastal beaches<br />

and estuary provide an array of year-round<br />

recreation and tourism opportunities, while<br />

the littoral rainforests provide habitat for many<br />

species of native fauna and flora.<br />

Harrington Beach<br />

Harrington Beach is situated on the NSW Mid North<br />

Coast and surrounds the Manning River’s northern<br />

entrance at Harrington. The 430-hectare park<br />

stretches from Harrington to the picturesque<br />

fishing village of Crowdy Head and<br />

features a caravan park, lighthouse and<br />

boat harbour.<br />

Bellinger Heads<br />

The Bellinger Heads <strong>State</strong> <strong>Park</strong> includes<br />

most of the coastal region from<br />

Hungry Head north to Mylestom in<br />

the Bellingen Shire.<br />

More information on this newly<br />

created state park will be available<br />

in the near future.<br />

Belmont Wetlands<br />

Belmont Wetlands<br />

comprises seven coastal<br />

wetlands, some of<br />

which drain into<br />

Lake Macquarie. It<br />

is the largest single<br />

open water wetland in<br />

Lake Macquarie and is fed by an<br />

extensive system from the north.<br />

These three new<br />

state parks were<br />

announced at the<br />

time of printing.<br />

Burrinjuck Waters<br />

Burrinjuck was the first dam built in NSW to supply<br />

the irrigation farmers on the expansive plains to the<br />

west. Now, Lake Burrinjuck is also a stunning place<br />

to relax and enjoy a myriad of recreational activities.<br />

Only 1.5 hours drive north of Canberra, Burrinjuck<br />

Waters <strong>State</strong> <strong>Park</strong> offers a haven of untouched<br />

native bushland just waiting to be enjoyed. Get<br />

up close and personal with the native wildlife, or<br />

satisfy the thirst for adventure with a choice of<br />

Burrinjuck Waters is just four hours drive from<br />

Sydney down the Hume Highway, or only 1.5 hours<br />

drive from Canberra. Turn off the Hume Highway<br />

25kms south of Yass and drive through farmland for<br />

19kms before coming to the forest and a beautiful<br />

winding drive down the hillside to the lake’s edge.<br />

in excess of 1,217,000 megalitres, 2.5 times<br />

the volume of Sydney Harbour, the catchment<br />

area measures 8,300 square kilometres. Visitors<br />

from all over the state soak up the stunning<br />

rural landscape on the north-east shores of Lake<br />

Wyangala at Grabine Lakeside <strong>State</strong> <strong>Park</strong>.<br />

Enjoy the magnificent views of Grabine<br />

and Lake Wyangala or enjoy water sports,<br />

bushwalking and picnics.<br />

Only a couple of hours drive from Canberra, or<br />

Lake Burrendong <strong>State</strong> <strong>Park</strong> offers year-round<br />

attractions for fishing enthusiasts, nature lovers,<br />

bushwalkers, campers and picnickers. With<br />

an arboretum with native plants and animals,<br />

and a mass of subtropical vegetation and local<br />

bird life, Lake Burrendong has something for<br />

everyone.<br />

Lake Burrendong <strong>State</strong> <strong>Park</strong> is only one hour’s<br />

drive from either Dubbo or Orange and five<br />

hours from Sydney. If you are coming from the<br />

north of the state, the park is 27kms south-east<br />

Wyangala Waters<br />

The ‘Jewel in the crown of the Central West’,<br />

Wyangala Waters is a favourite picnic area<br />

and holiday destination. Relax in comfortable<br />

accommodation or on the water in a<br />

houseboat, take a bushwalk or cast a line<br />

for some fishing. An easy morning’s drive<br />

from Sydney, or a short drive from Canberra,<br />

Wyangala Dam is located at the junction<br />

of the Lachlan and Abercrombie Rivers. With<br />

a catchment area of 8,288 square kilometres<br />

and a dam capacity of 1,217,600 megalitres,<br />

the surface area of the dam is two and a half<br />

times the size of Sydney Harbour.<br />

Belmont Wetlands<br />

Belmont Wetlands <strong>State</strong> <strong>Park</strong> comprises seven<br />

coastal wetlands, some of which drain into Lake<br />

Macquarie. It is the largest single open water<br />

wetland in Lake Macquarie and is fed by an<br />

extensive wetland system from the north and<br />

north east.<br />

Belmont Wetlands also has sites of value FAciliTiES to our<br />

cultural heritage, with evidence of Aboriginal<br />

occupation and early European settlement.<br />

While camping, caravanning and other facilities<br />

are not available as yet, Belmont Wetlands<br />

is currently used by beachgoers and fishing<br />

enthusiasts.<br />

Location<br />

Belmont Wetlands is two hours drive north<br />

of Sydney, and 25 minutes drive south of<br />

Newcastle.<br />

Goolawah<br />

The 745 hectare site runs from Crescent Head<br />

to the Limeburners Creek Nature Reserve and<br />

features dog-friendly campgrounds, wood for<br />

campfires, 4WD access and walking tracks<br />

along its lagoon, beaches and littoral rainforest.<br />

Projects currently being undertaken to improve<br />

the park include access trail upgrades and FAciliTiES a<br />

weed awareness campaign asking locals to help<br />

fight intrusive weeds.<br />

Location<br />

Goolawah <strong>State</strong> <strong>Park</strong> is located on the Mid<br />

North Coast of NSW, 450kms north of Sydney<br />

and 550kms south of Brisbane. The park is<br />

The 450 hectare site runs from Old Bar to the<br />

southern side of the Manning River’s northern<br />

entrance at Manning Point and features a<br />

caravan park, primitive campground, sporting<br />

fields and historic airstrip.<br />

The foreshores of the coastal beaches and<br />

estuary provide an array of year round<br />

recreation and tourism opportunities while the<br />

protected tracts of littoral rainforests and other<br />

significant native vegetation provide habitat for<br />

many species of native fauna and flora.<br />

coastal Crown lands from Hungry Head north to<br />

Mylestom in the Bellingen Shire.<br />
