Grade 5 = Transition Year

quite “triumphant”

New for Grade 5 Students
• Blue and White teams
• Homeroom representatives
• Traveling to classes
• More independence: homeroom no
longer serves as primary contact
• Lockers for books (no desks for books)
• Grades at the end of every trimester
• Full year Social Studies, Science, and
Foreign Language

How do students start their day
• If they come to school before 8:15,
they must go to the Mural Room
• At 8:15, they are dismissed to go to
their lockers
• Students need to be in homeroom by
8:20
• Classes begin at 8:30
• If a student arrives after 8:15, they must
first report to the office

• Homework should take approximately
1 3/4 hours each night, including 15
minutes of AR reading.
• Parent signature on work that cannot
be completed within the 15-minute
time frame
• Striving for independence: check to
see that work is complete, but do not
correct it

• Appropriate work area and set routine
• Check marks for missing or incomplete
homework: for every three check
marks, one point is taken off a
student’s final term grade; after five
check marks, a call is placed
to parents
• Missing homework notice – must be
signed and returned the next day
