Pioneers hire Pioneers:
C.W. Post alumni recruit fellow
C.W. Post graduates
www.liu.edu/cwpost/alumni
One way alumni can give back to C.W. Post is by hiring other
graduates for internships or full-time positions. C.W. Post boasts many
impressive students and alumni, with graduates coming from around
the globe and having studied one of more than 200 majors offered at
the Campus. Alumni and friends are one of the best sources of career
information and networking opportunities for C.W. Post students
and recent alumni. When Pioneers hire Pioneers, it strengthens the
C.W. Post community.
If you are a business owner or manager or are in a position to influence
hiring decisions at your company, consider recruiting employees from
your alma mater. The best way to stay connected to C.W. Post students
and alumni is by using JobNet, C.W. Post’s online career management
system – click the link at the PEP Office Web site, www.liu.edu/pep. You
Alumnus Charlie Prizzi ’96 ’00 hired 2008 C.W. Post Salutatorian Bailey Stark.
can register as a mentor in the Career Advisor Network; you can post
employment or internship opportunities for free, search for qualified students and network with other C.W. Post graduates.
Get involved! Supporting the C.W. Post Alumni Association can be as simple as hiring a fellow graduate or offering a C.W. Post
student an internship. To learn more, visit www.liu.edu/pep or call Kate Howlett at (516) 299-2263.
2008 Pioneer Hires: Read a few of many
success stories…
Charlie Prizzi ’96 ‘00, vice president for development at
Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, recently hired Bailey Stark,
salutatorian of the Class of 2008. “My first thought was to contact
the C.W. Post community about hiring a new graduate,” Prizzi
said. “We wanted someone who was eager and smart and
interested in development and fundraising.” Stark, who was hired
as a development associate in the Office of Development, “was a
perfect fit for the job,” said Prizzi, adding that he was thrilled to
support a fellow C.W. Post alum on her career path.
Bob Jahelka, C.W. Post Alumni Association president and
member of the class of 1984, recently hired C.W. Post graduate
Anthony Condoleo ’08. Jahelka, who is a managing partner of
Demasco, Sena & Jahelka, an accounting firm in Massapequa,
posted the entry-level position of staff accountant on JobNet. He
interviewed candidates for the position and ultimately hired the
2008 Post alumnus. “I am happy to hire a fellow C.W. Post
graduate,” he said. “Anthony is well-qualified for the job. I know
the caliber of C.W. Post’s School of Accountancy program and I
believe that Anthony is a great match for our firm.”
Janet Perschke ’78, a field staff supervisor for AHRC Nassau,
hired C.W. Post senior Sofia Kisseleff after meeting her at the
PEP-sponsored Co-Op Fair on November 14, 2007. Kisseleff, who
is scheduled to graduate in December 2008, is employed part-time
as a residential habilitation counselor for AHRC, where she works
one-to-one with developmentally delayed adults, teaching them
life skills. According to Perschke, AHRC is “happy to give C.W. Post
students the opportunity to apply their scholastic abilities to the
real world and hopes to hire more C.W. Post students in the future.”
Michael Winters ’84 ’85, vice president of acquisitions for Cedar
Shopping Centers in Port Washington, hired C.W. Post student
Kristina Likitsakos as an intern in the acquisitions department.
Winters used JobNet to find a well-suited intern for his company
and he is “very happy with his selection.” This internship provides
Likitsakos, a senior studying marketing, with invaluable real-world
experience in the real-estate investment world.
Every year, determined students earn their degrees from the C.W. Post
Campus of Long Island University in part because of the generosity of
alumni who came before them. You can help C.W. Post continue to
provide access to the American dream through higher education by
including C.W. Post in your estate plans.
For more information on the many rewarding ways of leaving a legacy
